"This is easy for me because I really didn't like the Canadian performance."

And therein lies the proof we all needed to show why you think the Russians should have won it...you didn't like the Canadian performance, therefore, the Russians deserved to win. That's IT. All your gobbely gook about "technically better" and "retreads" is just a bunch of malarky.

Nice how you've now ignored 3 hours of discussion on how artistic merit is 50% of the score and that is a matter of opinion. If the judges thought the same thing about the Canadian performance as I did they wouldn't even have medaled. Instead the judges apparently saw some nice things I missed (probably while trying to gouge my ears out so I wouldn't hear that damn song) so they got the silver. Half the score is subjective, if the judges don't like what they see it doesn't matter how well it's performed, you still lose.

Never argue with a Russian or a Slavophile. They're the ones who took Marx's stupid jargon and tried to run a country with it. Worse, they convinced themselves that it was wonderful as they suffered. So they will always manage to justify the stupidest actions or decisions if it benefits them or their allies. Heck, they're still trying to pass Milosevic as the second coming of Jesus.

This also applies to sports. Thus, you will never win an argument with them. If the Russians had gone out and stood still for their entire performance, there'd be posters here still stating that they deserved the gold medal.
