The stage is set, the stars have arrived and the scene-stealer - a frail flag symbolizing one nation's recovery and resilience - awaits its worldwide debut...
A SNOWSTORM CANCELED the first Olympic competitions Friday morning, but the Opening Ceremony is set to lift the curtain on the first Winter Games on U.S. soil in more than two decades with a backdrop of snow-covered mountains and an awe-inspiring temple...
Welcome to the 2002 Winter Games, a mix of unbridled patriotism, unprecedented security and 17 days of emotional competition in a nation made more vigilant and passionate by terrorism and war.

Has anyone explained why there are no events at Snowbird? Whatta mountain! Hhmmm.....the parking? Just a guess. I used to watch the Jr's train for their downhill up on Little Cloud. A lot of summer camps train there too.

The only thing better would be to have Bill and Hillary Clinton show up and be arrested by Dubya's Secret Service agents

Woo hooo Utah Girl. And compliments to Salt Lake City (and all the other venues). A great Olympics is here! The greatest place on earth for winter fun. And the best snow in the world too boot (none of this "Nagano rain" this time!).
I'm stoked and will be watching (when I'm not skiing, that is).
Gee, they get a little snow in Utah in February? Surprise, surprise. Get used to it! All that snow is going to make for some supreme ski events. That's why there's an Olympics going on there.

And I think after all the controversy, the flag got to be spotlighted even more than it would otherwise have been. So, good job, everybody, who fought for it to be there!
