Since they come from a left-wing perspective, you'd think it would be Davis or some liberal group - - - - but is it possible some conservative Republicans are funding an effort to undermine Riordan with liberal voters?"

If they are the same ads I have seen then they DO tell you who they are paid for. Watch the first few seconds of the ad - at the bottom of the screen is Gray Davis' TV ads with the words "Paid for by Governor Gray Davis Committee" or something to that effect.

I am wondering when the media will discover -- or let us know that they know -- that Riordan once donated to Davis.
