Sincerely,
Dan
What's your problem? Where have I offended you? What is your comment about me based upon? The fact that I like Alan Keyes?
BTW, if you're going to talk about me, have the courtesy to flag me.
Please, please don't pretend to be so naive and innocent. At least stand up for your actions. I make no apologies for anything I've said and stand by my opinions and how they are stated. I don't pretend to be having a friendly exchange unless it is so. If I'm nasty it was meant to be that way. I'm not going to turn around later and act like I am puzzled at someone's reaction........PUHLEEEEEEEEEZE !!!!!!
You have shown that you want to mix it up so what's the problem. I suppose your bait thread was not for the sole purpose of inviting a fight......right? Come on, KFP......let's be real here.
Why is it that you and others can come onto Keyes threads and bash him but if I get a little sarcastic in responding I am the bad guy?
Why do you and others repeatedly bring up the fact that Keyes and Kristol were roomates in college but when I finally challenge the relevance of that by reminding you that other politicians (without naming them) did some worse things while they were in college, you say that I'm trying to start a feud?
Are you and your friends above criticism?
Absolutely not.
I did not see Dan's post, so I can't address that. My comments were general and also that I have noticed your friendliness with a certain Freeper that is the Queen Mama of ugly and nasty.
As for the college roomies thing, it is just interesting and not exactly unusual for people to speculate. After all, this is the world of politics. No accusations were made that I know of; just musings.
Finally.......KFP you have every right to be mean, funny, sarcastic or whatever. Surely you realize that this topic always ends up in battle lines being drawn and the sides are pretty clearly delineated. Practically anything said has the potential to ignite a flame. If I were you, I wouldn't be very shocked at any reaction. I'm not. If I feared that or was too sensitive about it I would make a quick u-turn if I ran into a Keyes thread.
You should also choose your friends carefully. People do judge us by the company we keep. Two people can be on the same side without being close enough to kiss......if you get my drift.
She has never been anything but respectful to me. I've seen her get into it with others here, but her adversaries dish it out as well as she does. That's not my style, but no one is perfect. I've seen many nastier comments than hers from people on all sides around here.
I consider her my FRiend, and I make no apologies for it. You seem pretty close to some here whom I do not particularly care for either. That is your right and your priveledge. I base my relationship with people by how they treat me.
I hope you realize that although we have our differences, I've always treated you with respect. I also respect your right to choose your friends, and I hope you respect my right to choose mine.
If you want your "parody" to stand on its own to the critical eye of any outside observer, and you don't care to clarify it or defend it, that's fine.
It will just appear to any outside observer to be a baseless smear.
Personally, I think FR is better served by discussing conservative issues and principles, rather than by making fun of and tearing down conservative people.
If you dont agree with him on the issues, thats one thing. But I think you still owe him respect.
Come on! Arent we all on the same side? It's the liberals we should be spending our time on.
Could you be more disingenous? That was quite obviously a reference to President Bush, and it is unflattering to pretend now that it wasn't. What do you gain by denying it now?
Do you expect this sort of standard from Alan Keyes himself?
Thank you for pointing this out. I like your sincere approach.
I have seen a lot of passive-aggressive behavior here. It doesn't surprise me when women do it (some women communicate that way, I think because they are socialized to be indirect), but there are a couple of men here who are some of the biggest offenders.
As I said before, it has crossed my mind that they are modeling Keyes (Step 1: Rip out "opponent's" lungs, Step 2: Look in the camera and GRIN!), but not knowing what's going on in their hearts and minds, I can't say for sure. It seems pretty weird to me, though.
I like it when people say what they mean and don't throw a teaspoon of sugar on it to cover up the fact that it's bitter.
If I may: No, it isn't. He nailed it. Keyes can't stop dogging Bush. He picks at him. It seems as though he can't stand the fact that he lost so miserably to a man that he considers his intellectual and moral underling. (Thank God he did, not that it was ever a threat.)
You made up the scenarios and responses to put Keyes down.
That's what a parody is. A made-up scenario and response that happens to have enough truth in it to make it funny. It was funny! I am sorry, Gelato - you can't see it, but I think he nailed it.
Much has been made Keyes/Kristol being college roomates for a long time now on FR, as well as on the thread in which I finally responded to this issue.
Now I find the fact that they were roomates way back in college irrelevant. To illustrate my point, and to silence this issue once and for all I wanted to point out that if people want to go there...that is, if people are going to make an issue out of what Keyes "did" in college or whom he had for a roomate, then by that standard, all politicians should have their college days held up to scrutiny. Follow so far?
Now it struck me as odd that the people who have been constantly bringing this up support a politician who has done some questionable things in his college days. If you're living in a glass house, don't throw stones!
Now I could have posted, "Oh yeah, well your guy,(insert name), was a drunk who was a member of Skull & Bones blah blah blah..." But instead, without mentioning his name I tactfully reminded them that while it is true Keyes had Kristol as a roomate in college, other people were heavy drinkers, partyers and members of secret societies.
Now I would think the wise response would be silence--they knew what I was talking about so let's just drop this whole silly issue. But instead, some people had to publicly proclaim, "We all know you're talking about Bush!" Now if I were Bush, I would be thinking to myself, "Gee thanks guys!"
Again, I think the whole issue of Keyes/Kristol is as relevant as Bush's college drinking--COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT!
Again it seems as if some Bush supporters here can dish it out but can't take it. Keyes' college roomate is fair game, but anything about Bush is a personal attack, even when his name is not mentioned.
