who else in their right mind would go on a thread that was about a RUMOR that Keyes was going to have a television show and run it up to 797 posts long....at one point, around #780, JimRob had to lock it out to prevent more flaming!! Then do you care to tell us where you got that 797 number, since your last post was only 459?

Dan, your hypothetical about Keyes' response to Bush is absolute poppycock. I know you were trying to be a tad humorous, but you have to understand that by presenting an exaggerated scenario you feed the flames of discontent and malign the truth.
To: Rowdee
Oh, you meant the OTHER thread; the one where you all were so nice and us harpies so mean, right?

If he was, he would get a lot more air-time.Ah, not to put too fine a point on it, but isn't he?

Blah blah blah blah blah, GRIN. Blah blah blah blah blah, GRIN. [Insert gratuitous shot at President Bush.] Blah blah blah blah blah, GRIN. [Pat self on back.] Blah blah blah blah blah, EXTRA-WIDE GRIN!!
You apparently have a hearing or comprehension problem. I'd get that checked.
To: Howlin
I was using the past tense of the word. He doesn't have the show YET. It could be canceled before it starts.
To: Rowdee
No, I don't think so. I think his signature grin (which seems particularly inappropriate when he's just ripped out someone's liver) is just a reflex. That's my guess anyway. I really have no idea - maybe he IS thinking something.
It's not unlike what a number of people here do (by calling people names, implying they are stupid, and signing off with terms of endearment), come to think of it. Maybe Keyes' supporters are modeling him...? Again, just a guess. I just don't know. (I'm not being sarcastic. I really mean it. I honestly don't know why people here do that, or why Alan Keyes does that.)
Anyway, there's another bump for you, Rowdee!

You apparently have a hearing or comprehension problem. I'd get that checked. You're right. It's my problem. In fact, I must be an idiot, because only an idiot could be bored by Alan Keyes' pontificating and his obnoxious grin. I would take your advice and see a doctor, but I think I'm quite beyond hope. Thank you for your concern, Registered.

THANK YOU for having a sense of humor! Now I know there's ONE out there!!Well, it appears that the person with the greatest sense of humor on FR didn't like it, but I did. (I think President Bush is great and I DO plan on campaigning for him again, but I was able to see the humor in SNL skits about "strategery".)
I'll say it again: You nailed it!
To: DaughterOfAnIwoJimaVet
While I never voted for him, I have admired Keyes for a long time. He seems perfectly suited for a "talk" show because the man does know how to talk.
However, it perplexes me that he has become a source of conservative division. It seems to me that he is pretty conservative on most of the economic and social issues, so what is all the fuss about?
Is it really just that he is at times tangentially critical of policymakers like GWB who temper their conservativism with reality? Who cares? Bush can handle that.
I look forward to seeing what Keyes does with his own show. Who knows, maybe I'll quit watching after the first couple of shows, but I'm going to give him a chance!

Without checking on the full name of the other thread--the one that was about a RUMOR--, I do recall the name of the thread started with something like PAGE SIX. If you need it, I'll be happy to try to locate it for you, though, if you did a self search, I'm pretty sure you'll find the thread--you posted quite a bit to it...and certainly you were involved with the flame out just before JimRob locked the door.

And I'll take your advice -- and I hope the rest of the Bush harpies will, too -- who cares!

Is it really just that he is at times tangentially critical of policymakers like GWB who temper their conservativism with reality? Who cares? Bush can handle that.It is the way he criticizes Bush that bothers me. He is not unlike John McCain in that regard; he clearly has no respect for President Bush, and he is quite graceless about it in my opinion. It's not the subtance of his criticism as much as it is the lack of graciousness - and that he appears to see himself as morally and intellectually superior to the President. I find his attitude pompous and off-putting, to say the least. Give me President Bush. He's a normal person.

Dan
PS -- I love you, man! Don't get mad!
PPS -- Actually, you're wrong anyway, about me trying to be a tad humorous. I was aiming at 'WAY humorous. But I had a point, and I stand by it.

Agreed; at odd moments, out of the clear blue, I'm known solemnly to intone --
"Stra-TE-gery!"
Thanks!
Dan
PS -- some do take Keyes, IMHO, far too seriously; but none so much so as he himself, more's the pity

I never tell my critics when they are "pompous and off-putting." I quietly accept it as a blessing.
Let's just give the man a chance.
To: BibChr; Miss Marple
If President Bush said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the only-begotten Son of God, conceived in the womb of the virgin Mary, crucified for our sins, and risen on the third day," Keyes' response would be something like, "'Only-begotten' may translate the Latin unigenitas, but as a rendering of the Greek monogenes it is deficient, and I think it is shocking and shameful that a President of the United States could make such a misleading and ignorant statement!" LOL! Careful Dan, Miss Marple doesn't appreciate this kind of satire -- prepare to be admonished!
Thanks for bumping this announcement! Hope you'll be watching the show!
Regards,
To: Rowdee; Gelato
"Interesting, isn't it, that now they have to invent Keyes' words in order to have anything to talk about?! It just goes to show you, it's all in their heads."...This is just about as funny and silly as it gets.
Yeah. Next thing they'll be predicting that Keyes will call Bush "worse than Hitler!" LOL!
Let's see, on this thread Keyes has already been called a bozo and compared to Mussolini by Keyes-bashers. Silly? Yes. But funny? Well yes, but not in the way they intended to be!
Keep smilin'. Soon a strong Pro-life voice will be given 4 hours a week on the mainstream media. If some pro-life conservatives here are going this hysterical, imagine how the liberals must be messing themselves!
:-D
To: Keyes For President; howlin
I was just talking about you. And here you are, proving my point. Thanks!
