Why don't you admit it, keyes said that Bush was not going to win?

It really is true. You folks don't know anything about poltical campaigning. The statement that you are the only candidate who can win, that your opponent will lose is a statement made by every political candidate who is not either a frontrunner or posing as one.

Statements of this type have been used for centuries, including the Ike people about Taft, the LBJ and JFK people about each other, the Goldwater and Rockefeller people about each other, the Nixon and Reagan and Ford people about each other, and on and on. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Hamilton said it about John Adams. And THIS is Dr. Keyes big crime. It would be laughable if it were not so despicable. The ignorant trying to educate the educated.

And THIS is Dr. Keyes big crime.

Nobody said it was a crime. We said it was dishonest for Keyes and his supporters to now claim that Keyes is a Bush supporter and has never said a derrogative word about Bush.

When you call somebody evil, you lie when you deny you say it.

This statement is an acceptable one for a candidate, when he has a chance of winning. Keyes had already lost. Therefore, it was sheer mean-spiritedness to make this comment, and to follow it up with an "I will be saying I told you so" argument.

First you told us that these comments weren't believable. Having lost that argument, you are now trying Clintonisms to twist the meaning of what was said.

And just exactly who is despicable?

Now I really am ROTHLMCO!!!

" Statements of this type have been used for centuries, including the Ike people about Taft, the LBJ and JFK people about each other, the Goldwater and Rockefeller people about each other, the Nixon and Reagan and Ford people about each other, and on and on."

And exactly how many Republicans withheld their delegates at the convention last year? And how many withheld their support of the nominee until 10 days before the election? And exactly how many Republicans (Bill Kristol notwithstanding.....although his political affiliation is debateable) publish an internet column weekly to take a stand against the administration, instead of taking a stand against DemocRats and liberals? Why does Keyes see GWB as a target instead of Daschle?

Yes, candidates do this but they don't usually do it AFTER the nominee is selected. Keyes did this right to the end and has not stopped. He is dispicable.

Did you read all the statements he made? Keyes was ready to lose the primaries to Pres Bush and was making these statements here in OK. They were not just I am the only candidate that can win, they were mean-spirited and nasty!

I know a lot about politics having been involved in it for more years than I care to think and I know a mean-spirited politician that is arrogant and overbearing when I see one and keyes fit that bill here in Oklahoma. The clip of him talking down to our State Rep was on the TV News that night!

Before OK, I hadn't thought too much one way or the other about keyes and had supported him being in the 1996 debates. Between his radio name calling of GW, his praise of Gore on the radio, his TV appearance on the news, and the articles here in Oklahoma, I learned to dislike the man. It is one thing to want to win, but when you are losing as much as he was, then you don't go around saying things that can be used by your party's opponent like Gore. Keyes and McCain were Gore's best friends but at least McCain went out and campaigned for Bush right after the convention. By the time keyes endorsed him it was almost time for the vote.

Tell me how many nasty things that President Bush said about keyes during the primaries! You won't find any, but you will after the last debate that Bush went over and hugged Keyes.
