Yesterday, 12/17/01, we lost our beloved Gypsy, a 14 year old Golden Retriever, due to old age and liver failure. Our family lost an quality of tenderness and sweetness when she left.
God being all perfect, if I could make one suggestion, He would assign to each us, at our birth, one dog "for life". Outliving our pets hurts too much!

I'm so sorry. This is a horrible time of year to lose a family member. And to those of us that love our hairy friends, they are indeed family members.

Two years ago on Christmas Day I was forced to put down a faithful Cocker Spaniel who had been a part of my life for 14 years. I happened to mention it here on FR and someone posted a beautiful poem titled "The Rainbow Bridge" it gave me great comfort at the time but I failed to keep a copy.
Perhaps some freeper dog lover has a copy and will repost.

I'm deeply sorry for your loss.
I have a dog also, and can't even imagine the day when she passes on. It will be very painful for me. I truly wish they could live beyond what they do. I love her alot.
There have been many times when I'd rather be with her than other people. She doesn't judge others, she doesn't hate.....she just shows all of her love & happiness for life.

Oh, those "Golden" moments. My Ginger left me 8 weeks ago. I'm sure Gypsy and Ginger have found each other and are running and playing as they wait for us to cross the Rainbow Bridge.

Yesterday, 12/17/01, we lost our beloved Gypsy, a 14 year old Golden Retriever, due to old age and liver failure. Losing a dog, especially an older one, is horrible. I'm bracing myself for the inevitable with my 12 year old Husky.
