Fender Squire Telecaster. It's a decent built guitar, cheap, easy to play & sounds wonderful. If you have a problem with a $200 guitar then go ahead & kick it up a notch & get the Standard Fender Telecaster, however many musicians I know use the Squire for road work since they are a decent guitar & if something happens to it, you're not out a lot of $$$. Just my opinion, but then I'm partial to the Telecaster sound.

Ditto on the Squire Telecaster. Get an earlier Mexican ("Taco" Tele) if you can. The ones they make now are crap for no quality control. DO NOT bother with a Tele made in Indonesia for the same reason. After you adjust string height ( use the .008's for ease of fingering and bending) and intonation an earlier Taco Tele will keep up with an American made. The end deciding factor of what sounds good is with who's playing it anyway. I will not part with mine which I stole on eBay for $142 . GO FOR THE MAPLE NECK/FINGERBOARD.
