Unidentified Flying Objects
me own eyes | 12-1-1

Posted on 12/01/2001 7:50:13 PM PST by jungleboy

Just witnessed two very fast traveling objects in the sky that had very colorful, streaking objects following them. This WAS NOT meteor activity as the local TV station guessed. These objects came out of the Southwest sky heading Northeast. My wife and I watched them for about one minute as they dissappeared over the horizon. Northeastern Kansas. Anyone else see this?

in central MO

I saw them and eventually came to the conclusion of space junk after going through these wrong assumptions.

Meteors, rocket attack, exploding jumbo airplane(it didn't fall, it kept on same course)

Many interesting sky shows this fall. I've seen the Northern lights 4 times this fall, moon saturn occultation, an now this. Been playing with the idea of getting a good telescope. Anyone have any reccomendations other than stay away from department store crud?

"... lasted too long in the sky."

And just how long is too long? Debris coming in at a low angle will leave a distinct and long lasting trail.

Actually, I was in one of 'em and saw you. But nobody else aboard saw you so I was ridiculed as a NUT. Thanks a LOT.

The UFO's I saw, lasted over one minute (by my best guess) in the sky. There were TWO bright objects leading the pack, flying side- by- side, with about 10 or so trails following. There was about 7 trails behind one of the leading objects, and and 3 trails behind the other object. These trails were spectacular in color. They traveled along the whole route of the leading objects, spewing out these tremendous rainbow of colors the whole way.

I would sure like to know the size and material make-up of space "junk" that would cause this beautiful sight.

Sounds like the breakup of some space debris, to me. Have seen photos of other occurrances that yield similar views. YMMV

FYI - The ufo's were apparently two Russian-made booster rockets for two Russian Navigation Satellites.

I will guess that they're the new secret Air Force planes. I heard someone calling them "Aurora". However, this is just speculation, Captain. I will require more data to make a definitive identification.

It really does not matter what it was. The Air Force will say it’s a weather balloon, then in 10 years there will be a show about it on the History Ch.
