TBN Televangelists Buy $5,000,000 Home
Deception in the Church ^ | Nov.4,2001, page K15 | LOS ANGELES TIMES,

DITC Commentary: Ever wonder where all those "seed faith" dontations are going? Whose getting rich again? Remind me. It thought it was those people who sent in their seed faith donations who were going to get a "100 fold increase" and that they would be the ones buying luxury homes. What a shock to find out it doesn't work out that way! Duh!!!!

Televangelists JAN and PAUL CROUCH of the Costa Mesa-based Trinity Broadcasting Network have purchased a Newport Beach house for close to $5 million, Orange County Realtors say.

M't:19:23: Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
M't:19:24: And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

Only God knows their hearts!

That's okay, the FCC and IRS have already found the guy to be a con, one reason he lost his TV station and was booted off another. I have better things to do than discuss snake oil salesmen with you. Hey, you wanna buy a bridge?

That's OK, I accept your retraction and defeat. Your bluff has been called. Don't let the door...

I'll take a shot at leaving the money part out and stick to theology.

Why is it that EVERY major evangelical and catholic apologist has something to say about this group. Every major cult that deviates from Christianity starts with the Trinity. Why don't we just all become universalists and include the Mormon's and the Jehovah's in our big tent. After all they mention Jesus. I for one would like to play it safe and stick with Max Lucado or Chuck Swindoll or Charles Stanley a good Southern Baptist.

It's not like I am pointing something that is not well known. Word-Faith teachers deviate from orthodox christianity by denying the trinity. The belief is called modalism and this heresy is not new. and it goes like this: In the Old Testament, He revealed Himself as the FATHER. In the New Testament, He manifested Himself as the SON. Today, He manifests Himself as the HOLY SPIRIT.

Orthodox Christianity holds to a totally different concept of God. We believe that there is one God who has eternally existed as three separate and distinct personages; God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

A perfect example of this is found in Matthew's account of the Baptism of Jesus. It was Jesus who went down into the water. There's one member of the Godhead. Then the Father spoke down from heaven, "This is my beloved Son with whom I am well pleased." There's the second member of the Godhead. Then the Holy Spirit descended upon Christ as a dove. That's the third member. Three persons; one God.

These are not hair splitting matters.

My apologies... I lost track of the threads and didn't realize you were specifically talking about Dr. Scott.

A quick search of Dr. Scott shows I might need to check him out for myself. Most people who critize are not criticizing his biblical christianity, but his methods and interests in other areas. Other than my Southern Baptist pastor who mentioned that as a youth he had the "Hell" scared right out of him at a Billy Graham event, I have never heard a pastor cuss. His web site is so full of stuff, I don't know if I'll ever get to it.

I contribute to my local church. For the Combined Federal Campaign (equivalent of United Way), I designate a local charity. I keep my money in the neighborhood.

I think you might get a kick out of him. His very solid no-nonsense theology is masked in some poorly trained minds by his "outgoing" and "individualistic" personality. Those who can't separate the message from the messenger often don't like him. I think he is a great breath of fresh air!

I like Dr. Gene Scotts presentations on The Lost Tribes of Israel. There is no other single source of really solid Biblical information on that subject as comprehensive and well documented. He really cuts through the baloney and makes it relevent to today.

For more on the subject, and a link to Dr. Scotts site, click on my Profile. (Looks like the Excite/@HOME site with some of my links is down...)

"Alone" was Suicidal's best tune. (Just one fella's opinion, of course).

Shockingly, enough, Punk Rock is one of the few (modern) musical genres in which I would rank the dedicated "Contemporary Christian" artists as the equals of their "secular" rivals.

The very best of class being, of course, The Crucified. Here's their thoughts on Paul and Jan Crouch, et al (as well as the Pope... they are hardcore Protestants, after all)...

Crucified, 1989, self-titled. Check it, yo.

Best,
The Orthodox Presbyterian

They don't believe that God can actually bless his own.

True. God gave US His promises and blessings... not the unbelievers... Most of us just don't know how (or haven't learned effectively) to receive it because the world tries to make us feel guilty about having anything of value. Meanwhile, they rake it out from under our noses, for themselves.

Job, Abraham, King David, King Solomon, etc.,etc... were VERY rich because their hearts were right with God. He (God) intended for US to be the head and not the tail, because He knew we would do good and not evil, for His Kingdom. Proverbs 10:22 The blessing of the LORD makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.

The unbeliever will take his riches and further himself, while the true believer will give freely with an open hand, to those in need.

"Only God knows their hearts!"

Why thank you, rwr.
Of course; only God does know.
So be it...

While you really should know right now how very uncomfortable I find having someone pop-up, open their Bible, & begin citing scripture & verse to me.
There're a host of reasons I find that kind of behavior disturbing; your interpretation of those Sacred Words for me, not withstanding.
Be that as it may...
Where does, "Give unto Ceasar, that which is Ceasar's" come into the equation?
{strictly rhetorical...}

Have a great day.

Yes, she wears it to draw attention away from her garish Tammy Faye Baker like makeup.

PT Barnum was right, there's a sucker born every minute, and a fool and his money are soon parted.

Anyone who can't look at these two (and anyone on TBN) and TELL that they're fake, hucksters, etc.. deserves to lose their money, period.

What makes you think he is talking about money...couldn't you be "rich" in other ways? just a question...

Most of the scriptures that speak of God's blessings refer to "prosperity", whether it be land, herds, money or children. You have to have money to function in this world....and God knows that. Why would He bless you with children...and then not give you enough money to care for them properly? Why would He bless you with land...and not give you the money to pay for its upkeep? (It's expensive, believe me) *chuckle*

If your only intent is to prosper yourself and not build His Kingdom through tithes and offerings.... then your heart is not right, true?
