How is being polite to a visitor "kissing up"? Geez, when I was growing up in Texas I was taught that you were supposed to be civil to people, particularly visitors, even when you didn't like them. No, ESPECIALLY when you didn't like them.

Are you speaking of Peter Jennings, the Canadian TV show host? Pretty gutsy of Peter bin Jennings to refer to MY president as HIS president, when he is only here by the grace of the INS. Whose policies are waaaaay overdue for review.

Your post at #81 was one of the funniest things I've read in a week. One of those "sad but true" commentaries.

You could tell the Texan ABSOLUTELY meant it. For a second the Texan thought about not responding to Jennings' pestering but then he squared up to Jennings and spoke slowly and deliberately from the heart. If looks could kill!
I have a dream.
I have a dream in which an independent-minded broadcaster gets his camera and a crew, goes to Dallas, and finds that Great American Hero who spoke his mind as he faced down The Incredible Canadian Weasel.
I have a dream.
I dream that this American Hero is interviewed with 15 of his closest friends in a totally uncensored Q & A.
I have a dream.
They interview these people about what America is really all about. How do they Real People live their lives? What stokes their political furnaces? What incites them to say such things to the (in some venues) esteemed Petah Taliban Jennings? They go for the truth, and they get it. Both barrels.
I have a dream.
This interview is aired in prime time on worldwide TV.
I have a dream.
This interview spawns a new generation of television shows of every variety: real-deal Americana, sitcoms, political satire, news media satire, family life ...
I have a dream!

I think they should ask each media talking head individually to submit to a town hall meeting about their performance. Kind of like the Red Guards and the Khmer Rouge did....no death threats or violence like the Commies... just make them listen to average Americans. It would be priceless.
I would volunteer for this only if we little people got to sit behind one-way glass, on the no-see-um side.

rightful place should be doing traffic reports for the local radio station in Flin Flon, Manitoba Personally, I've felt for a long time that he ought to be struttin' and preenin' in counterpoint to Chris Kattan (sp?) on SNL.

Yank's fitting words:
Sometimes you feel like you live for this sort of thing to happen.
Here's hoping someone is able to capture this one for posterity. Give that fellow Texan a ceegar! If I knew who or where he was, I'd make the trip to bid "D" and shake his hand. Gotta luv it!
These colors don't run...LET'S ROLL!!!

bump! Just heard the tape on Chicago's WLS AM890, Don & Roma show.
They keep playing the segment "Nobody likes you!"
To: JD86
Thank You!:))

I watched the same broadcast, and what I heard the man say to Peetau was "Nobody here likes you."
It was delivered in a casual, mild-mannered, non-confrontational style with the man looking Peetau straight in the eye.
It was a Marvelous moment!
To Peetau's credit, he did air the clip Nationally on his evening news blab show.
Peetau, you really do need to get out more!

Peter Jennings I don't watch ABC News - is he the one with the tanning booth tan and the white circles around his eyes where he wears his little eye protectors?
To: keithtoo
Petah NEEDS to be put in his place - The Great White North - back up there with the McKenzie Brothers! He can just FAX Babs her speeches from now on.

I wonder if that Texan is a Freeper?
To: NewCenturions; okiedust
Yes, I think he is our own Okiedust. Check out the end of this thread:
Thread on Jennings' townhalls
Okiedust said he was invited to the Dallas townhall because he had a letter published in the Dallas Morning News complaining about ABC's coverage of Sept. 11 and the war in Afghanistan.

"Also called him on the "some president's do it well and some don't." You said:"That was Mark Davis of local and national talk radio fame that called him to task on that one, and quite funny how he prevented PJ a "squirm path" out of it. PJ ended up mumbling something about "one man's opinion".........."
I caught that too, but (sarcasm on) aren't "journalists" supposed to be unfettered by bias? (sarcasm off) Isn't that why the ABC president said that the on-air personalities couldn't wear flags on their lapels?
Jennings is an @ss and I hope he's starting to realize that many Americans feel that way about him.
To: keithtoo
After porking Ashrawi and advocating her views, what does he expect.
To: keithtoo
