Take a good look around folks and you'll see why I hold out little hope for the long-term survival of our nation. Anyone with a brain can see that Democratic policies got us to the point we're at now. People in large numbers support a Republican president and make it clear that they would rather have him in charge instead of Clinton or Gore. So what do we see? Already tonight two states have elected Democrat governors.

I sadly believe that the fall of our nation is a foregone conclusion.

It's kind of a vicious cycle. Democrats get elected, make a mess and then people elect Republicans to clean up the mess. They do, and then a Democrat ousts them and it starts all over again.

Please can the doom and gloom. NJ was no surprise. Bush lsot by 15 points there last year and they elected Hillary clone Corzine.

In VA, Warner bought the election and basically ran as a conservative. He will have a GOP house to deal with. The RINO VA Senate was the problem here since they were the ones who caused the budget impasse.

The next four years are not going to be a cakewalk for slick warner.

Ditto - this election makes no sense to me - but then '92 did not either, and '96 was even worse. I'm totally out of tune with most Americans. I was raised and educated in Virginia too! (Of course - I was heavily "liberalized" by my educational institutions - so that's a major minus for VA too).

MM~ you are so right. i was hoping our country was moving to the right in the wake of the 2000 election and the most recent events. i thought the 'sheeple' were waking up! this is distressing, to say the least. :(

Yup,and this really hammered into my mind yesterday as I traveled through West Virginia. A whole damn state full of radical rednecks who claim they vote Dim because the "Dims are for the working man.". Yet these same retards elected Rockefeller twice to Governor, and to the Senate for as long as he wants. Somebody ought to ask these cretins if there is any family on the planet more responsible for the misery of the working-class West Virginian than the Rockefellers. The Rockefellers used political connections and strong-arm methods to steal timber and mining land from their ancestors, and even hired murderers to kill them during the union protests of the 30's. None of this bothers the average West Virginian voting Dim in the slightest. They elect the grandson and son because he's a "Dim and has our best interests at heart".

Please don't start composing the obituary -- we aren't dead yet.

I wouldn't be so pessimistic.

It's hard to reconcile the majority of the populations of Virginia and New Jersey voting to elect Governors from the pervert party, but the fact is that these losses represent a failure by the national GOP to aggressively pursue these offices.

The GOP is concentrating on the survival of the USA, politics can wait until next year. The jackass party is concentrating on the survival of the jackass party

The northeast has been lost for a long time, anybody who still lives there deserves what they get.

In Virginia, perhaps Earley didn't appeal to women like Warner did.

Policy is seldom the determining factor when women vote.

We will get them next time.

I think the US will change its boarders soon (they'll get smaller) and that state govt's will get more important. At least they'll be many political alternatives in that mix. Sorta looking forward to it.

Sadly, I agree. And it is due to the very reasons that Jefferson so direly warned us about. When you have such a high percentage of the populace who are ignorant, it feeds on itself and the socialists take over. I don't even know why we even bother to do them justice by calling them 'Democrats' anymore when they ARE SOCIALISTS plain and simple. But, we asked for it, now we got it.
