Folks in southeast Florida...I would stock up on some food and water. I doubt it will hit directly...but it may at least give 75 mphs winds for you....90 or so for folks in the southeast Keys. NHC still has it tracking south of Florida, but close enough to definitely cause some wind anyway.

Lets pray for Cubans...they have little to nothing thanks to Fidel Castro...the monster...but the poor citizens of Cuba are the ones who are truly being hurt by this hurricane.

Friend of mine called me from Havana this morning, I could hear the wind on the phone. He was really looking forward to the hurricane, sort of like an adventure.

Hmmm, all I can think about are the arms shipped from China to Cuba within the last year...and I hope it all gets swept away, and that any terrorists or sympathizers suffer big...maybe this is divine intervention

Hurricanes once came as surprises. It is US technology that prepares people the world around for threatening weather. Point this out whenever you can! Communism never figured out how to build a weather satellite on its own, and Cuba will be looking to us for emergency aid if their own systems aren't up to the task.

Trying to find a topological map of Cuba--do they have anything BUT low-lying areas?

I was once ignorant and felt this way too, and then I met Hurricane Andrew, and I was taught a serious lesson.. 165 MPH winds will do that to you I guess..

As a matter of fact, the island of Cuba has mountain ranges with peaks of 6500 feet! Thats one reason Hurricanes get seriously weakened when they pass over it.
