Thanks for your interesting stories! You know what you're talking about, first hand!

My daughter is fine. The clean-up will take a long time, since the Caymanians are known for their slow pace.

The tides are normal today --- lots of debris washed ashore --- by debris, I mean kitchen counter tops, chairs, sofas, and a washer-dryer combo! So far, no gold coins from the many ship wrecks of olden times.

She didn't mention the plight of the "yachties," (I had trouble spelling "yacht," thanks to 68-69TonkinGulf"Yatch"Club!) --- no school today on Grand Cayman --- kids running around trying to find "treasures" washed ashore!

Lots of sand and coral rock inside of beachfront homes --- all insured for such damage but the MESS. Who wants to deal with the mess?

Hurricane Pounds Bahamas; Five Dead in Cuba as linked on the Drudge Report...

On his way back to the capital, Castro stopped in the town of Cardenas, which was hit hard by Michelle, to see Elian Gonzalez, the shipwreck survivor at the heart of a fierce custody battle between Cuba's government and anti-Castro Miami.

Well at least Reuters is now showing the honesty to at least admit that this was not about the custody issue of the father. It does neglect to mention that the other party was not "Anti-Castro" Miami but "pro-capitalism" relatives of the boy.
