I vowed years ago that France was not worth my time or money.
There is not one American person who has been to France that I know who did not
come back with a Rudeness report on the unwashed French population.

Well I had the pleasure of living there for while--going to school. I think a tour of France may bring out the worst in both parties--American "last remaining superpower-edness" and French cussedness. Day to day life in France is a whole 'nuther kettle of bouillabaisse.
There is also an element of desire in these American/French confrontations. Neither side could live with out them in some strange way...

Now grammymoon, it appears that you are describing what most travelers to New York have described (pre 9-11). Paris and New York are just cities. Why, I have been even treated rudely on the FR board. Does that mean that ALL FReepers are gauche?
