With light to NO WIND, the heavy barrel and Leupold scope will let the 68 gr. Federal Gold Match .223 sail right down to 600-700m easily...our range on Camp Robinson Arkansas national Guard base has a 1000m range for machine guns and snipers....we use that range b/c it has 15 foot high banks and trees on each side....

With no wind in Pierre, SD (a very very rare event), we hit groundhogs very infrequently at 600m-700m. But it can be done with good equipment, good training, lots of practice, and God on your side holding the wind back for you.

Yeah, the wind here in SD sucks pretty bad some days. I want to get out west and do some groundhog whacking, but haven’t had the chance. I do use my mini 14 for deer, it does fine on our cornfed whitetails.
