My old stainless steel (then painted black with engine paint) mini 14 never, and I mean NEVER jams. OTOH, I have had a CAR-15 blow up next to me when it was fired with a wet gas tube after exiting the water, after correctly pulling the bolt back and tipping the barrel up etc. The residue in the gas tube sometimes holds the water... And that was not the only time I have seen one that blew up that way. (To me, a rifle must be ready to fire right out of the water.) No rifle is perfect.

Why in the world did you paint your stainless steel black?
