Marriage Vegas Style Fails to Please Girlfriend

LONDON (Reuters) - British student James Cripps went to Las Vegas, had a few drinks and got married.

His problem was that he already had a girlfriend, and she was not pleased to hear that he had married a complete stranger.

He put off telling her about it for three days after he returned from the United States, and then she dumped him.

The Times newspaper said 21-year-old Cripps had now begun the humiliating process of trying to find his bride, a 26-year-old optician from Australia, to try to persuade her to agree to an annulment.

Cripps has little memory of his new wife, nor can he recall much of the ceremony.

"I was way too drunk," he was quoted as saying. "We were all very drunk and thought it would be a laugh if we got married.

"It was one of those stupid things. If you go to Las Vegas, you drink, you gamble and you get married, which is what I did, although I regret it now."

He added: "It was funny for a while, but now my ex-girlfriend is never going to talk to me again."

Somehow I don't think "Luck Be A Lady Tonight" is going to be this guy's signature song.

His next trip ought to be to Afghanistan. The stud can have as many wives as he wants. If they disobey him, he can beat the crap out of 'em.

And NOBODY gets drunk enough to get married and not know it.

I can vouch for that! I was there a couple weeks ago and got drunker than sh*t! But I didn't get that drunk!

Where are all of the 'Defense of Marriage' posters? This cheapens all marriages - there oughta be an amendment to prevent this kind of thing.

Well, yes marriage is sacred. On the other hand, the self inflicted justice of it all is profound. Let the morons destroy themselves!! 'Freedom to make dumb mistakes' is the sister of 'freedom to succeed'! (As long as there are no kids involved..)

When I get to where I can afford to buy my big boat, I'm going to put up a sign that says all marriages performed by the Captain of this vessel are valid only for the periods the boat is not tied to the dock.

Honestly, I think this can go either way. I wouldn't EVER bet on a Michigan State-Michigan game unless it is basketball. (Atcually, it's called a jinx if I place money on it).

And HLL, it's 5-1 and 3-2. I know you want to forget Washington...:)

And only one team beat U-M 4 times in the 90's.....The team 60 miles away to the Northwest.....

I expect this to be a repeat of 1995.

I beg to differ. I believe it is 6-1 and 4-2. Oui?
