WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush authorized on Friday a payment on the United States' back dues to the United Nations, and said he hopes the money will enhance America's "close bond" with the international body.

Bush signed a Senate bill authorizing the second of three payments of the arrears. Bush said the payment fulfills the commitment he made to U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan in March.

Bush signed a Senate bill authorizing the second of three payments of the arrears. Bush said the payment fulfills the commitment he made to U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan in March.

The House approved paying $582 million in back dues late last month, just hours after Annan called for the United Nations to play a major role in the fight against terrorism. In his signing statement, Bush referred to the body's key role in "eliminating sources of funding for terrorist operations."

Gee it looks like the "nj.com" needs a constitutional lesson.

Bush did not sign a "Senatorial bill". He signed a Congressional bill.

This Terrorist Act on America was created by a belief of an international world government system.

How would you like it if the Russians would come into America and tell you what to do?

How you and your family will live, I do not think you will like it.

All over the world, the countries hate us.

For trying to control their lives.

We must get rid of the United Nations.

Instead of welfare to these countries, let them stand up on their own.

It's called FREEDOM.

Conservatives get made when I say it, but that Helms is a grandstander. He was invited to the UN to give them a piece of his mind, and he made all luvyduvy.

This is where the Bushes and I part ways. ""

If the $582 Million saves just 10 American soldiers' lives it will be worth it.

It might save us billions in military costs if it makes the difference in whether certain countries allow us to use their ports and air bases.

Go on record and explain how this is not checkbook diplomacy, please. Show me the wisdom of our leaders.

By the President, Senate, and Congress believing in the International World System,

they are Destroying America. And killing Americans.

Partly to blame and the blood of the Americans are on their hands.

no...... bad move..... he may as well blame America for the attack of Sept 11. You can't buy love from people who expect something from you. Not with food in Afghanistan, not with money to the UN, not with a state for Palestinians.

582 Million could save a lot more than ten lives if it went to OUR military.

Our military has been suffering for 8 years at the hand of the ex-impeached-rapist-in-chief. I want MY MONEY to support MY MILITARY, not some half-*ssed military from a third-world cesspool.

Freedom used to be worth fighting and dying for. If it has come down to the price of freedom being measured only in dollars, we're doomed.
