Still No Sign of Missing Crop Duster Plane (en route to USAF base at Cape Canaveral from Bahamas )

Coast Guard aircraft searched for a thrid day Wednesday for a missing State Department plane used to spray crops during the drug war in Columbia.

US Coast Guard Petty Officer Robert Swanson said no signs of the plane had been found as of late Wednesday. The single engine plane, which carried only one pilot, took off early Monday from Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos Islands, a dependent territory of the United Kingdom located southeast of the Bahamas. It was en route to Patrick Airforce Base, on Flordia's East Coast south of Cape Canaveral.

Swanson said two Coast Guard aircraft and a cutter were searching for the Ayres S2RHG-T65 Wednesday afternoon. He said a U.S. Air Force plane was expected to join them Wednesday evening.

The search area has expanded from an area of 120 miles southeast of Freeport, Grand Bahama to the entire outer Bahamas, Swanson said.

...the only thing that made it questionable was that it was under the flight path of the missing plane.

If the plane is missing, and they are searching around the Bahamas(meaning it did not make our air space), then would it not be a fairly good bet that this town was not under the flight path?

Draw a line between Turks and Space Center, The Bahamas are just off to the right and Lantana is on the path.

Earlier stories have said that all the spraying equipment HAD BEEN REMOVED from the aircraft before it began its northward journey. With the spraying equipment removed, this plane wouldn't be any more useful to a terrorist than any other single-engine, single-seat plane. Yeah, granted, it has good slow-speed performance, but so do a lot of other aircraft more easily stolen.

I don't think there's much "there" there.

Hmmm...Missing crop duster aircraft apparently en route to Florida's east coast...63 yr old man on Florida's east coast comes down with anthrax...I'm no conspiracy theorist, but I think this may be something to be looked into.

From another thread:

In the United States, about one case of anthrax has been confirmed each year over the last 10 years, according to a report by Dr. Arthur M. Friedlander, chief of the Bacteriology Division in the U.S. Army Medical Corps.

I don't think you need a hundred cases to confirm terrorism

Also the incubation period covers a range of 12 hours-six weeks. I think 4-6 days was the norm.

I'd bet all these "coincedences" are--coincedences. This stuff is getting big press right now because of the terrorist scare. A story like this is a reporter's dream and the media is going to play it for all it's worth.

Like Free Tally said, if hundreds or thousands come down with the disease in the next few days, then there will be something to worry about; we can assume that tyhere has been a bio attack. But ask yourself: why, of all places, south Florida? There are a lot more and bigger targets around that are easier to attack than the nearby USAF base.

If I remember my Army CBR/NBC training, the incubatiuon period is seven-10 days.

Oops.

Sorry to stutter. No excuse.

"Coincedences" should read "Coincidences".

Why? I don't know why they would pick "South Florida"...why would they pick the US Embassies in Africa? I'm not saying this isn't a coincidence, I'm just saying that given the fact that this man was admitted with what they originally thought was "meningitis" and it turns out to be "anthrax" makes one wonder. The last reported case here of that was in 1976. (Or said Tommy Thompson).

What's to say that the "spraying equipment" wasn't replaced?? It was stolen, was it not? I'm not conspiracy theorist, but I'm getting tired of all these "coincidences" lately. I think I'll go take a Calgon Bath....*grins*

I think you missed the point. If its missing, meaning it did not make its destination, then it probably did not fly that path. If that was not in the path, I would be more inclined to think the "crop duster" theory may be legit.

This is the "if it's too obvious, it must not be right theory"?

Let's all remember that most Muslims love us and we shouldn't expect the government to round up and intern anybody not passing FBI muster like they they did in WWII.

Our Government had common sense back then.

It no longer does.

It was stolen, was it not?

It is not known to be 'stolen.'

Theft is possible, but so is ditching. Planes have been known to crash.

A mild panic occured here Sunday when the county sent up our skeeter planes to fog the area for adult skeeters. The county got about 50 calls from people worried about the plane buzzing their houses.

Personally, I'd prefer they kept flying because the skeeters are awful right now and there is a real possibility of West Nile virus spreading. But the panicky people are screwing up that too.

Ok, so it wasn't "stolen". No distress signals?? Nothing? whatever....I'm tired of hearing "this isn't true; and this story has changed from a 1/2 hour ago."

I'm not taking it out on you, and apologize in advance if it seems as if I am.

I want a missile to explode in a camel's butt, just to make me feel better. ;-) I don't care how expensive the camel is.....;-)
