On this thread, and perhaps succeeding ones, I hope we can chronicle those companies that show patriotism and those who are scum and do not deserve our business.

Here's the good news. God Bless the folks at both Sears and FedEx. They have pulled support from POLITICALLY INCORRECT for the outrageous statements of Bill Maher.

Give us your good and bad stories here. Thanks.

I've asked it before and I'll ask it again; why on earth would anyone watch Maher? How would you know who his sponsors were? How would you know who to boycot? It has been a long time since I watched that show, but it was clear, at least to me, that the only reason he was on is that he must be giving frequent lewinskis to all the clymers that run that network. Those of you with stomach enough to watch and report back who the remaining sponsors are, do a public service. If there ever was a no-talant guy, it is Maher (well, maybe Gordon).

Wells Fargo bank has donated $1,000,000 to the Red Cross and is also collecting donations from customers at all its branches and in-store locations, FYI.

K Mart for running full page ads in major newspapers with an American flag to cut out and put up.

K-Mart is pond scum, IMHO.

Glaxo Smith Kline sent its retirees (such as me) a letter reminding them of the company's matching gift program. They encouraged retirees who contribute to disaster relief organizations to submit canceled checks and the company will match the sum. (In addition, the company itemized the millions it had already given to the disaster relief effort.) I had already made a contribution to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, but I had forgotten about the matching gift program. Now my contribution will be doubled.

My company, Hill-Rom Inc., a leading manufacturer of hospital furniture and equipment--and a subsidiary of Hillenbrand Industries--immediately sent supplies to New York to aid in the disaster relief. Most employees, if not all, have donated to various charities. Not only are the offices and factories decorated in red, white and blue, but supervisors made it a point last Friday to take time out for a moment of silence followed by the pledge of allegiance.

The Wal-Mart in Millington, TN is making red, white, and blue ribbons out of yarn or curling ribbon and giving them away for a donation to the Victim relief effort.

Philip Morris anted up $10 million, gave all their employees the Day of Remembrance off with pay last Friday, and has instituted matching funds for all employee contributions, which totaled $35k on Tuesday and Wednesday, 9/11&12 alone.

PM owns Miller Brewing, Kraft, Gevalia Kaffe and several other food and beverage related companies which are all gearing up similar matching funds for employee donations, etc.

Not bad for "evil Big Tobacco", huh?

I personally think that the airlines should only get the loans from the government if they don't layoff anybody. Why should we help bail them out, when they layoffs thousands, which in turn will only hurt our economy even more?
