I was going to join the Coast Guard Reserves earlier this year, then I found out I was pregnant with baby #2. So, needless to say, I have to wait until after the baby is born before I can join.

I was really bummed too about not being able to join, although I'm thrilled I'm pregnant. I stay-at-home with my daughter, so joining the Reserves would allow me to serve my country, and and still be a stay-at-home mom to my daughter.

Great idea. Except that you serve at the needs of the government. If you are a stay-at-home mom, and thinking about enlisting in the Reserves, I would council you to stay at home. You serve there also. I salute your service.

The Reserves have a nasty way of yanking you away from hearth and home to serve in pest-holes around the world. Your babies are better served with Mom at home. God bless you, and God bless your children.
