Israel conducted airstrikes Tuesday across southern Lebanon, despite a warning from Iran that further attacks could lead to a devastating reciprocal response.
The Israeli military issued evacuation orders for the city of Tyre, on Lebanon’s southwestern coast, before launching a wave of airstrikes in the surrounding area.
Tyre is one of southern Lebanon’s largest cities, with nearly 175,000 people in the city and its metropolitan area.
Notably, Israel’s latest evacuation order for the city included Tyre’s Christian sector, which had previously been excluded from airstrikes. Israel asserts that Iran-backed Hezbollah militants are hiding within the city but has not provided direct evidence.

The last thing the Israelis want is an end to hostilities. All progress toward a ceasefire or settlement has to be undermined. Meanwhile they get to continue bombing Christian churches and villages.
Israel is purposely goading Iran on.

Hostilities, with regard to Lebanon, are all initiated by Hezbollah, and Israel - just as we would if we were in their position, responds to degrade the ability of Hezbollah to continue its attacks.

Trump needs to speak Frankly to the Mullahs telling them first that Lebanon is a separate issue and it is between Israel and Lebanon. And second, that the Mullahs will not be allowed to use Lebanon as an excuse against the negotiations about their own situation.

IMHO, Israel wants regime change in Iran. Any deal which leaves the IRGC in power in Iran is a non-starter. And they have the ability (through attacking Lebanon) to keep any such deal from happening.
And must Isreal continue to accept such attacks without retaliation? No way. Pre-emptive strikes against HAMAS and Hizballah are a better idea.
Isreal is not the party preventing a deal from happening.
I doubt Iran will do anything unless the IDF hits Beirut again - were IRGC staff are located.
