TMZ's Halftime Show Poll Isn't Going the Way They Hoped
Townhall.com ^ | 9 February A.D. 2026 | Amy Curtis

Posted on 02/09/2026 8:30:22 PM PST by lightman

Well, Bad Bunny ended up not wearing a dress during yesterday's Super Bowl halftime show. We have to wonder if Roger Goodell or someone in the NFL put the kibosh on that plan, especially after Goodell said the program wouldn't be political. President Trump slammed the show as "terrible" and "one of the worst." Meanwhile, the TPUSA alternative show attracted tens of millions of views so far.

TMZ put up a poll last night asking which show was better, and it's not going well for them.

Who had the better halftime show -- Bad Bunny or Kid Rock? — TMZ (@TMZ) February 9, 2026

Right now, Kid Rock leads two to one.

YouTube stats are not real time, especially when you have such a high volume of viewership. It will slowly be verified and released over time. 16 million and counting so far walked away from Bad Bunny. pic.twitter.com/DuTHwOczL5 — Political Cow (@PoliticalCow) February 9, 2026

That's impressive.

It is not.

The lead was even more dramatic early on.

We're certain TMZ didn't plan on this.

The fact you even have to ask just proves @KidRock stole all the eyeballs. — Tenn Bear 🐻 (@akaBarni) February 9, 2026

It has certainly rattled them.

Looks like TMZ is hoping for a busted water main at 2 in the morning. pic.twitter.com/r44vlYFRkv — SmythRadio (@SmythRadio) February 9, 2026

We see what you did there.

The NFL just had its Bud Light moment.

With a total monopoly on the halftime slot, they went all-in on a program performed almost entirely in Spanish—a language less than 20% of the U.S. audience speaks fluently. That's why millions tuned out to watch the All-American Halftime… — Warren Petersen (@votewarren) February 9, 2026

"Estimates show that over 20 million watched the alternative halftime show. That's a huge chunk of the captive audience walking away," Petersen wrote on X. "This translates to millions lost and a new tradition is born. Rather than a one time occurence, it is likely that the new alternative halftime show just gets bigger and better every year."

The reason they have these huge artists for halftime shows is because of an alternate halftime shows. They used to have marching bands, Up With People, etc. Then Keenan Ivory Wayans got the idea to do a halftime show with his In Living Color show, and the NFL decided to up their game.

Isn’t Bud Light back, and Shane Gillis fully supports it?

We switched over as soon as Bad Bunny got on ourselves, and watched the Kid Rock one on YouTube.

To be perfectly honest, we just did it to boycott the NFL and a protest the halftime show. Because in all reality, the TP USA show was not that great in my opinion

first off it was a lot of country music, which I’m not a big country music fan. And then when Kid Rock got on, he was blatantly lip syncing , and it was so obvious that you could hear his voice while his microphone was down near beltline. My wife liked the cello and the violin act, so there was that. And Kid Rock’s acoustic final was actually a very good song and my favorite from the night. I believe he actually sang that one.

But again, I was just looking to pump the numbers up, and I had every phone in every TV in the house plugged in to the TP USA show, and I’m glad it was a success. And I think Newsweek even described it as a “shot across the bow” to the NFL

The TP USA was the best halftime show I’ve seen in years. Of course, the last SB I watched was when the Packers beat the Pats in 1996.

Throw this "spectacle" is the same rubbish bin as the Jaguar commercial and Dylan Mulvaney.

Competition is as American as apple pie.

"This translates to millions lost and a new tradition is born. Rather than a one time occurence, it is likely that the new alternative halftime show just gets bigger and better every year."

Free markets offer alternatives and choices.

Same deal with politics, Trump offered an alternative to the Uniparty and people chose that alternative three times even though the Republican Elite futilely threw hundreds of millions at Jeb and Jeb 2.0.

Not a single Super Bowl Commercial has been mentioned since the Super Bowl. The NFL is sinking like the NBA and they stupidly did it to themselves.

“ Not a single Super Bowl Commercial has been mentioned…”

I liked the Kurt Russell commercial. He went to “Again. Again…”. I had just watched miracles on ice to wash my senses from the ant American snowboarders.

I got through a few recorded episodes of Zorro with a couple of First 48 thrown in for good measure.

Nah, it's at least 60%, maybe 70% because every company in America answers their phones with "Para español, oprima el Dos."

Soon to be ""Para español, oprima el Uno."
