Former US President Obama Forced Ukrainian Authorities to Give Up Crimea — Trump

The US leader called the peninsula "massive and beautiful"

WASHINGTON, December 9. /TASS/. Former US President Barack Obama forced the Ukrainian government to give up Crimea in the face of Russia’s push to take it back, US President Donald Trump said in an interview with Politico daily on Tuesday.

"Every time I look at that map, I say, oh, this Crimea’s so beautiful. Wow. It’s surrounded on four sides by ocean. It’s only got a little piece of land to get to... the main [land]. I mean, Crimea’s massive," Trump said.

"... it’s four sides of ocean in the warmest part. It’s got the best weather, best everything," the US president continued. "And Obama forced them to give up Crimea."

The Crimean Peninsula is located in the northern part of the Black Sea and is bordered by the Sea of Azov from the northeast.

The US president said that Crimea "was the heart" of Ukraine.

"I have great knowledge of Ukraine now… you know when this conflict really began though? It was simmering for years, but, uh, when Obama gave up Crimea, that was a big thing," Trump noted.

"Obama forced them ...Obama did this. This is not [ex-US President Joe] Biden. Well, maybe he [Biden] was involved, but I doubt it. He probably didn’t know too much then either. He was never the brightest bulb. But you know, Obama gave away... he made them give it away," the US president added.

Crimea and Sevastopol returned to Russia following the March 2014 referendum held amid the coup in Ukraine. Over 80% of those eligible to vote participated in the referendum on the Crimean Peninsula with 96.7% and 95.6% of the voters of Crimea and Sevastopol voting for reunification with Russia, respectively.

I didn’t see any detail on how Obama “forced” Ukraine to give away Crimea to the Russians. I thought Russia took Crimea militarily.

I always thought this thing is about Russia getting Crimea which it wants for a warm-water port.

Everything Obama touches turns to crap including this and the lying and unconstitutional “affordable healthcare” disaster.

Crimea doesn’t have enough fresh water. It has to import it from the Ukraine.

Over 80% of those eligible to vote participated in the referendum on the Crimean Peninsula with 96.7% and 95.6% of the voters of Crimea and Sevastopol voting for reunification with Russia, respectively.

The Ukraine Nationalists / Azov Nazis did not just burst on to the scene when the EU, Victoria Nuland and John McCain showed up in late 2013. Western Ukrainian groups from Lviv, militias like "Right Sektor" and parties like Svaboda, with their Nazi-insignia, had been around for years, but had been a tiny political minority, even in their home districts of far western Ukraine.

But both were being organized, funded and built-up by the West in general, and MI6 and CIA in particular, prior to Maidan.

When these groups were ultimately brought to power by the Maidan Coup in 2013, and they started their talk of genocide and suppressing all things Russia, the Russians of Crimea understood what was at stake.

Voting to remain in Ukraine would have been like Jews voting for Hitler in 1939.

Everything Obama touches turns to crap including this and the lying and unconstitutional “affordable healthcare” disaster.

Everyone needs to understand that what Obama participated in in Ukraine (its difficult to say he lead the effort, but he made sure the USA was deeply involved) was EXACTLY what he also attempted in the USA

He pulled the Davos/MI6/CIA "color revolution" playbook there, just as he did in the USA

That meant empowering extremist political groups, street agitation and violence, control of social media to spread disinformation and demoralization, use of lawfare via government prosecutorial services and control of "corruption investigations," vast funding of NGOs for "democratic action," purposeful promotion of destructive social practices like LGBTQ, anti-Christian and anti-established religion actions, etc. etc. etc.

That was an issue 10 years ago. Its not an issue now.

The Crimea has always been extremely important to Russia (the Empire or the USSR) and the object of Britain’s second largest (and unsuccessful) 19th century war. It would not have been added to the territory of the Ukraine by Khrushchev if anyone had thought it possible for it to fall out of Moscow’s control. That’s not to excuse how Putin reacquired it, or his clumsy blood-soaked follow up adventure in the Ukraine itself. I don’t ever mind Obama being whacked for anything. But the Crimea is very far down the list of his incompetence fueled disasters.

The Ukrainian population in Crimea has largely been replaced with Russians with the Ukrainians men women & children sent to Central and Far East Russia.
