A former longtime Drug Enforcement Administration agent who rose to help oversee the agency’s financial operations has been charged with agreeing to launder millions of dollars in narcotics proceeds for a Mexican drug cartel, according to an indictment unsealed Friday in U.S. District Court in the Manhattan borough of New York City.
The former agent, Paul Campo, worked for the DEA for about 25 years, the indictment said, first as a special agent in New York and eventually rising to become a high-level official — the deputy chief of the Office of Financial Operations. He retired in January 2016 and now runs a private consulting business, according to the indictment.
Campo laundered about $750,000 for the cartel by converting cash into cryptocurrency, and agreed to launder far more — $12 million in all, according to the indictment. He also provided a payment for about 220 kilograms of cocaine on the understanding that the drugs had been imported into the United States, the indictment said.

Looks like a lot of “rot” inside human hearts.
Because that’s where the money is ...
Any police officer found guilty a crime should go to general population.
25 year DEA agent. I’ll bet they uncovered just a sliver of what he did.
What does his lifestyle look like?
Now he can spend all his time laundering Prison uniforms in the Big House, have fun you crook.
“There is so much corruption in our government agencies. I believe it is now the norm rather than the exception”
Seems lie detector tests are in order on a random / rotating basis for Federal employees. Now if only the The Supreme Court would agree. It’s a prerequisite for potential new hire FBI field agents. If that passes mustard why not the entire lot of Fed. employees???
I didn’t know Rand Paul was a DEA agent?
We used to only see stuff like this in the movies.................
Campo wasn’t satisfied with his retirement. So he sought to supplement his income by doing dirty deeds. Bad, bad, bad.
Give him a ride in the next Panga out of Venezuela, he deserves it.
This guy was not laundering money while in the government. He retired in 2016 and started a consulting business and it is that private business which apparently assisted the New Generation cartel to launder money.
