The secret fear of the loudest die-hard critics of Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani is not that he will fail as the city’s leader but that he has a very good chance of succeeding. If the new administration demonstrates it can deliver on its promise to lower the cost of living while managing our city efficiently and keeping the streets safe, it will become clear that the fearmongers who have been screaming warnings about a coming municipal apocalypse were peddling nonsense all along.

The actions Trump is taking will lower the cost of living for everyone, as long as the commie doesn’t screw it up (big if) he will claim he is responsible.

Mamdani’s ego has written checks his office can’t cash.
He promised to raise taxes to pay for his wish list, but only the New York State Legislature has that power. Good luck convincing upstate and Long Island legislators to raise taxes on the whole state to give out freebies to the city. Even the Democrats outside the City will have tough time with that.
The mayor also cannot remove fares from city busses. That authority belongs to the Metropolitan Transit Authority, of the fourteen votes on that board, the Mayor only appoints four.
I’m willing to bet more of his promises are similarly detached from the reality of his office…
