The vessel had left Myanmar's Buthidaung with about 300 people on board.

Hundreds were missing on Sunday (Nov 9) after a boat sank near the Thailand-Malaysia border, as 10 survivors and one body were recovered, the Malaysian maritime authority said.

More victims might still be found at sea about three days after the sinking of the vessel, which left Buthidaung, Myanmar, with about 300 people on board, said First Admiral Romli Mustafa, the maritime authority director of the northern Malaysian states of Kedah and Perlis.

Among the survivors found in the waters off Langkawi were three Myanmar men, two Rohingya men and one Bangladeshi man, while the body was that of a Rohingya woman, state media Bernama said, citing Kedah police chief Adzli Abu Shah. Members of the mainly Muslim Rohingya minority periodically flee majority-Buddhist Myanmar, where they are seen as foreign interlopers from South Asia, who are denied citizenship and face abuse.

They are completely free to practice their Muslim faith in such international waters.

This is reminding me of the “what do you call a bus load of lawyers at the bottom of the ocean?” joke.

300 is nothing. You should see them ride a train. Riding the roof holding onto a goat and chicken. Quite a sight.

Lot of heartless people here. What did these poor people, 1000 miles away, ever do to you?

Agree. This is a very sad story. I don’t care where they are from. Drowning is a horrible way to die.

To be fair, I was sad when I read the headline and opening paragraph, by the third paragraph I was conflicted upon reading they were Muslims... I doubt very much they were planning on assimilating and not forcing Islam wherever they were settling.

ISIS tried to recruit among the Rohingya but got nowhere with them. That alone is worthy of some credit in my book. They have been severely persecuted and deserve the goodwill of all decent people. I say this having just returned from Lahore, Pakistan, where I spoke at a number of Christian churches, including 2 congregations of Christians held in debt slavery working in the infamous brick kilns. One must be consistent in opposing injustice and standing up for the oppressed, not prejudiced based on whether you happen to like one or another of the victims.

Treat others the same way you want them to treat you. If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. If you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners in order to receive back the same amount. But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. Luke 7:31-36

It is the will of Allah.

Why do you bury Muslims ten feet deep?

Because down deep they’re good people.

There’s a picture I’ve seen of a Mercedes-Benz Unimog truck that’s way overloaded with people and stuff. It might have been in some of their sales literature from the 90s.

It’s a third-world thing.

These are likely people fleeing forced sex slavery and other forms of slavery and horrible organ harvesting operations in Myanmar, where there are huge numbers of them

A complete lie.

There is no such thing as a "Rohingya." They are Bangladeshi Muslims who illegally invaded Myanmar, where they quickly became a drain on public resources, and a source of major crime, including the murder of Buddhist monks. When Myanmar started deporting them, U.N. leftists and their Islamic allies declared them "Rohingya" - a brand new "oppressed minority" who should have their own "state" - of course, by subtracting from Myanmar. Another "palestinian" fraud.

Big difference. No one cares about the Rohingya, even though they have been treated much more inhumanely.
