~ The FReeper Canteen Presents ~ ~ Remembering Our Troops!! ~
Don’t Drop It! Pow! An EC-225 Super Puma helicopter connects to an ammunition crate on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) during a munitions transfer. Nimitz is in U.S. 7th Fleet conducting routine operations. 7th Fleet is the U.S. Navy's largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region. Canteen Mission Statement
Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allies' military and family members of the above. Honoring those who have served before.

Terrorist Hunting! U.S. Marines with the maritime raid force, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, prepare to fast rope off a UH-1Y Venom helicopter during visit, board, search, and seizure tactics training at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan. The VBSS training was conducted to teach Battalion Landing Team 2/1 Marines insertion methods and close quarter tactics for boarding and securing maritime vessels. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region. Grab A Tissue! 1st Lt. Nicholas Lahr, a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter pilot with the Kansas Army National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 108th Aviation Regiment, and Samuel Butalla participated in the 46th annual Lincoln Marathon, which also serves as the National Guard Marathon Team trials in Lincoln, Nebraska. More than 200 National Guard Airmen and Soldiers from across the country competed for spots on the All Guard Marathon Team. This was the fourth time the duo raced the Lincoln Marathon together.
We Don’t Get Paid Enough For This! U.S. Marine Corps recruits with India Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, squat with a log during log drills at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. Recruits carried a 250-pound log, executing various teamwork exercises to strengthen their bodies and minds. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Grace J. Kindred)

Go Ahead! Make My Day! U.S. Army Pfc. Jared Birmingham, an M1 armor crewmember assigned to Aggressor Company, 2nd Battalion, 70th Armor Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division supporting the 4th Infantry Division, looks out of an M1A2 Abrams tank in a combined arms rehearsal during Anakonda23 at Nowa Deba, Poland. Anakonda23 is Poland's premier national exercise that strives to train, integrate and maintain tactical readiness and increase interoperability in a joint multinational environment, complimenting the 4th Inf. Div.'s mission in Europe, which is to participate in multinational training and exercises across the continent while collaborating with NATO allies and regional security partners to provide combat-credible forces to V Corps, America's Forward deployed corps in Europe. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Sgt. 1st Class Theresa Gualdarama)
Just Honing My Skills! U.S. Coast Guard Maritime Enforcement canine and their handler land onboard a Los Angeles City Fire Dept. Harbor boat as part of their K9 Vertical Insertion exercise on the waters near Coast Guard Base Los Angeles-Long Beach. This training, lowering K9 Handlers and their canine partners from a helicopter to the boat and then hoisting them back up, helps them prepare for rapid response to threats, hone their skills, and obtain the best search behavior from the canines during insertion operations. (U.S. Coast Guard photo taken by Petty Officer 3rd Class Richard B. Uranga).
Playin In The Dirt! U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sergeant William Arcuri assists 5th graders from Michael Anderson Elementary School plant a tree at Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington. The 5th graders participated in the planting of trees as an annual Arbor Day tradition. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Lillian Patterson)

Please remember that The Canteen is here to support and entertain our troops and veterans and their families, and is family friendly.

Here's another sad ballad. I have been to the site in southeastern Ohio where the US Navy airship
USS Shenandoah crashed on September 3, 1925.
The Wreck of the Shenandoah--Vernon Dalhart (1925)
To: luvie
Years ago I was hiking to work on my water line when a helicopter descended about 100 yds away. A security group had just roped down to a small turnout on the highway. They were from the Klamath National Forest, my other neighbor. I approached and did a slow turn. (had a Beretta in my back pocket) I asked what was up; they just finished hauling several cargo nets, each about the size of a VW bug of pot from the upper reaches of the creek that I draught water from. A friendly German Shepard with a harness joined them. I suggested they could use the 3 or so acre meadow and land the helo. ‘Then we’d have to hike back up to the highway to catch our ride.’ It was about 50 yds. (They were armed to the teeth)
‘I’d like to head up the creek to clean the inlet at the diversion. Does that make sense to you guys?’
‘You might want to do that tomorrow sometime. The rest of the crew up there really isn’t expecting company.’
‘Understood’
