Five people were shot — three of them fatally, including an infant — at an annual carnival outside Salt Lake City Sunday night, authorities said.
West Valley City, Utah, police said officers at the WestFest noticed two groups of people having a "verbal altercation" and, as they moved in to break it up, "a 16-year-old male from one of the groups pulled out a gun and fired."
An 18-year-old male from one of the groups was killed, along with a 41-year-old female bystander and an 8-month-old infant, police said.
In addition, police reported, a 17-year-old female and 15-year-old male were hit in the arm. It wasn't clear whether they were connected to the groups involved.
The 16-year-old male suspect is in custody and was taken to the police station for questioning.

Well, that pretty much answers all my questions about this.
I was at a park near downtown Salt Lake City about 5 years ago. It was a crazy, dangerous looking group of mentally ill drug abusers. I’ve been all over, and that one park was worse than some things I have seen in Portland, LA, Seattle for example - it’s like they concentrated all the crazy into a two block area!
I adjusted my path and found another place to eat in a different direction.

The Fatigue is becoming overwhelming. We MUST take whatever action is necessary to bring this crap to a stop. If that means building hundreds of maximum security prisons, so be it.
Harsh law enforcement, zero tolerance for resistance, maximum penalties and no parole. Our society would be vastly improved and far more safe and peaceful within a year. Let’s get started.

I watched the video of the officers detaining him (a black male teen). As they were holding him down on the pavement, he was looking around as if to see if someone was going to come to his rescue, or to decide who he was going to kill when he was released from custody. Someone must have looked at him the wrong way.
Mmm hmm.
