From Grok:
April 5, 2025 - Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian addressed escalating tensions with the United States on Saturday, criticizing what he described as a contradictory approach from Washington. Speaking to reporters during a press conference, Pezeshkian said "If you want negotiations, what's the point of threatening?" he asked, pointedly questioning the logic of combining diplomatic overtures with aggressive rhetoric. The statement comes amid renewed speculation about potential talks between Iran and the U.S., particularly following comments from the Trump administratio suggesting both a willingness to engage and a readiness to impose further sanctions or military pressure over Iran's nuclear program.

Equal terms? The United States of America meeting with 9th Century pig fornicating knuckle draggers?
Lol. Death to America the big Satan, isn’t threatening at all.
Well, we do it with the Saudis. Iranians are 10 times more industrious and modern compared to the best day the Saudis have ever seen.
Reminds me of my granddaddy’s old mule. He’d work all day, no problem. But in the morning he wouldn’t get out of its stall until granddaddy hit him across the head with a 2X4, said that you had to get the mules attention first thing.
Ah, so NOW they want to talk.
How is the US “equal” with Iran? Do tell.
Silly question. Because it's the only way to get an a**hole's attention.
Facing the schoolyard bully is always a pucker moment. But it has to be done. Trump is the one to do it. BTW, each aircraft carrier has more modern jets than most countries. Plus, the heavy bombers can fly directly from the US. That display at Deigo Garcia is exactly that.
If only we could resolve their differences with Israel (which, as unpopular as it is to point out, are not one-sided), they could be a meaningful part of the world community.
They didn’t want to have their silhouettes stenciled on the side of a B-2.
“If you want negotiations, what’s the point of threatening?” he asked
It’s called leverage. Like when you supply groups that physically beat captive toddlers to death, rape and murder defenseless people. Iran seems to enjoy and support this behavior, as well as to use its impact. Truthfully, I don’t want my national to threaten Iran anymore. I want it to bomb Iran until it can’t support anything at all, and not even to warn it again in advance. I want that bombing to continue until the words “Unconditional Surrender” slip from its leaders lips. All wells burning, all ships sunk, all trade stopped, all roads impassible, all factories destroyed. When the Iranians get tired enough, they can pick a different path.
Perhaps we could skip all that, and the people of Iran could intellectually grasp where it will end and just pick a different path now. So maybe it’s not a threat, it’s a promise this time. Let the Iranian people decide, but I am certain that Donald Trump (shoot me and I get up and yell fight) will use the stick.

The Iranian problem with Israel is clearly religious. Didn’t seem to be a problem before the Ayatollahs. They feel they are destined to kill all the Jews. Solving the problem with Israel means that one of the two must go.
So pick which one goes…..

I’m with you. The few Iranians I’ve met seem to be decent sorts. But their current leadership is bat guano barking moon bat outhouse rat crazy. Once they’ve been killed and driven from power maybe the rational civilized rest can take over.

Ha, ha, another Shia sycophant chiming in to support the terrorist supporters of the world.
Saudis have always been reasonable. Iran has (post revolution) always been religious bigots. There is a difference and that difference is the source of almost all Moslem hatred for hundreds of years.
How is it equal when there are thousands of fighter planes, Cruise Missles, and numerous Stealth Bombers prepared to blow pieces of Iran plumb into the the surrounding countries?
Have you ever negotiated with anyone? Did they force you to get on your knees before talking to you? Did they let you know before word one that you are not their equal and if they didn’t like what you said, they’d blow your brains out?
Yeah, that’s the way to get a real, long lasting agreement.
The Iranians are rushing to field a nuclear weapon and they are very close. this is simply a delay tactic to give Iran time to field a working device so they can enter the nuclear bomb club. that makes them untouchable.
