It is time for these witch doctors to be fired.

Two reasons are being discussed, one, La Nina episode is proving to be weaker than predicted, and two, easterly waves moving out of Sahara region are (since Beryl at least) unusually far north so they are not seeding tropical storms as frequently as expected. It does look a bit more active for September but prospects of a very active year are all but gone now.

I would not say this means no strong storms rest of 2024, the water temperatures are not a prime reason for this failed prediction and if all came together, a major hurricane is quite conceivable. The west African factor is returning to a better track and in any case later season production is usually centered on Caribbean and Gulf, as well as western Atlantic, more so than August (which was the big fail of this season). It only takes one storm as 1900 - Galveston proved (otherwise that was not a big year).

The meteorologists predict this and then cry when it doesn’t happen. THis year ain’t the first time.

The weatherman & various apps cannot predict more than 3 days in advance with any accuracy. Anything beyond that is usually pure optimism - if you need rain, it’s only a few days away.

All the more reason to know global warming hysteria is a fraud.

They fizzled.

The MSM needs to stop with the hyperventilating fear porn and end of the world predictions and just remind people that hurricane season is starting and they need to be ready.

Anyone who lives in FL and doesn’t prep for hurricane season every year is a fool. Just get ready for a big one and you’ll be fine.

Good grief, the ignorance on this thread is astounding.

Predictions are just that - predictions for the season based on in part, historical data and current conditions and trends. There is no certainty.

And when the predictions prove wrong, there’s research to determine why.
