Israelis take to streets, call to shut down economy after hostage bodies recovered
JERUSALEM POST ^ | SEPTEMBER 1, 2024 | EVE YOUNG

Israel's Business Forum joined the Hostage Family Forum call to protest as Israelis blocked junctions around the country. The Histadrut chairman, Arnon Bar David, Israel's main labor organization, called for a total shutdown of the country's economy on Monday starting at 6 a.m., and Israel's airport followed shortly after.

Israelis gathered at junctions and blocked intersections around the country Sunday morning, calling for a hostage deal after reports came out that the bodies of six hostages had been retrieved from Gaza.

Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Eden Yerushalmi, Carmel Gat, Almog Sarusi, Alexander Lobanov, and Ori Danino were alive in captivity for nearly 11 months before being killed in captivity by Hamas soon before IDF forces reached their location, according to an IDF initial assessment.

The Hostage Family Forum called on Israelis to take to the streets and demand a hostage deal now. Protests were planned for Sunday evening at dozens of locations around the country.

The forum also called on local government, union heads, and large companies to shut down Israel's economy Monday as part of a call for a deal and as a sign of unity with the families. Additionally, the forum called on the head of the Histadrut labor federation to call for a general strike.

"The national leadership has abandoned the hostages, and it is the time of social, economic, and local leadership to stand by the hostage families, by the public, and by the values of solidarity and mutual responsibility," said the forum.

The labor federation is considering possible steps and will announce its decision today, Ynet reported.

Opposition head Yair Lapid also called on the labor federation, employers, and local authorities to strike. "They were alive. Netanyahu and the cabinet of death decided not to save them," he said in a call to shut down the economy.

I’m not sure if geography still protects us given the number of muslims being allowed into this country, legally or for the past four years with no border, illegally. Historically, they generally do not mix with non-muslims, and later seek to overpower and rule them, under sharia law. Not a pretty picture. It’s all laid out in their history and beliefs, if anyone bothers to study it. What’s that saying....‘Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it’..yes, that’s the one.

“They were alive. Netanyahu and the cabinet of death decided not to save them,”

_______

Did the IDF not try to rescue these hostages?

Hindsight should be 20/20 but whoever said this is blind.

You wouldn’t know unless in the ground in Israel itself. All I know is, I haven’t always liked Netanyahu on the basis of his dismissive treatment towards Trump. He was the first world leader to congratulate Biden the night following the election, even as other world leaders waited longer for the election results to be made official.

I do not believe October 7th would have occurred had Trump been at the White House.

My prayers and deepest condolences to the hostages’ families.

to add: Netanyahu was dismissive of Trump at various points throughout Trump’s first term, not just at the end of it. Worth looking up even the frustrations Trump himself had voiced over the matter.

Shutting down their own economy.

What a brilliant move.

I think the first step is to stop identifying “Hamas” as the enemy. The enemy is Gaza. Every “civilian” in the area knew where those hostages were. Until Gazans are recognized as the disease there will not be a cure.

Right you are, John.

Dr. Peter Hammond did a study on how Muslims behave as a percentage of the population. They don’t have to have a majority to start the march to sharia law.

The tipping point occurs once Muslims reach about 5% of the population. That’s when they start to demand more and more. And they will include threats if they don’t get their way.

Hammond’s full study is here:
https://virtueonline.org/what-islam-isnt-dr-peter-hammond

(The percentages cited are old, from 2007)

Opposition head Yair Lapid

https://www.timesofisrael.com/lapid-heads-to-washington-for-high-level-talks-amid-friction-between-israel-and-us/

Lapid said that arguments with the US should be held in “closed-door” conversations. “In front of cameras, don’t have these arguments,” he said.

Such protestors are hamas supporters. No better than the 70% of gazans who voted hamas into power and celebrated their murders on Oct7.

That the Israeli Left is making political hay out of this horror is disgusting. The leftists seem to have no bottom to their depravity.

There isn't a bottom. Hate runs deep, and the left hate anyone who doesn't buy in to their world view and their self-perceived intellectual superiority.

I smell the CIA and other regime operatives at work in Israel trying to foment discord.
Hamas will never give in. Negotiations are completely WORTHLESS. They simply use negotiating as a STALL TACTIC.
