1st, we use very little oil from the Mideast and "need" even less: In fact, with half decent coordination and cooperation with Canada (requires Keystone pipeline to work well) and Mexico, we / North America would be a very formidable oil export force.
More important is the threat from radical Islam left to its own devices. We saw the first hints of that with AQ, ISIS, the Houthis taking out Saudi oil infrastructure, etc., and see it particularly with Iran. Make no mistake, these people left alone and with fistfuls of money from oil sales to Japan, China, etc., would rapidly develop nukes deliverable anywhere on the planet. It is their duty to see that we submit, or die.
