Kamala Harris' vice presidential pick, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, has come under fire from former military colleagues for allegedly ducking out on a deployment to Iraq in 2005.
Walz, who was just announced Tuesday as Harris' running mate, is already being touted by liberal media outlets, including Newsweek, as "the longest-serving military veteran to be a vice presidential nominee."
The 60-year-old served 24 years in the Army National Guard, where he reached the rank of command sergeant major.
The Newsweek account included praise from retired Army Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling, who wrote on X that those who reach that rank "know what they're doing."
"They uphold standards. They speak their minds to all ranks (private to generals). They're not afraid of getting bad news because they know how to fix things when they go wrong ...
"While I don't know the details of @GovTimWalz career wearing the cloth of our country, just the fact that he volunteered to serve and wore the CSM rank tells me a lot about him."

Not even close. This guy did 24 years and chose to retire. As long as you have 20 years and a day, you can request to retire. Do you not think hundreds if not thousands retired during the 20 year war? I think stolen valor means bragging he went to Iraq when he didn’t. He never did. This is not going to work.
Walz taught in China’s Guangdong province in 1989.

I know. Hubby and I can't figure out why she would pick this guy. He's a Bernie Sanders-endorsed commie who let Minneapolis burn during the BLM riots of 2020. He wants to invest in ladders for more illegals to get over Trump's Wall on the border. And he's a VERY old looking 60 year old. What the heck??
He re-upped for 6 years. After four years his unit was being shipped out to Iraq, so he quit and was demoted.
He did not retire with the rank he claims.

No, "Stolen Valor" means claiming medals or service when you didn't get them.
This initial article alleges that Walz claimed when he entered Congress to be the "highest-ranking enlisted service member" to be elected to Congress. The authors of the article say that Walz was given a provisional rank of "Command Sergeant Major" conditioned on his successful completion of program at the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy.
However, when Walz found out that his unit was scheduled to be deployed to Iraq, he "retired" from his unit and withdrew from the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy. Upon his withdrawal from the Academy, Walz's rank was reverted back to his official rank of Master Sergeant.
The authors of this posted article are alleging that Walz's claim of being the "highest-ranking enlisted service member" to serve in Congress is Stolen Valor, because he's claiming a rank that he isn't entitled to.

According to Wikipedia (before it is washed) he did not finish the CSM Academy and so when he retired he was dropped by to his previous rank.
