I would love to see the break down by ethnicity and ‘gender’ of these graduates. But we never will.

While everyone else was complaining about the diversity part, I see the claim that it is the largest class ever.
There is no way that there are more students enrolling in the California college system then 10 or more years ago. The article of course never mention the quantity of students.

Approximately 63% of freshmen graduate within 4 years and 89% at 6 years at UC schools. Considering that private schools are about 2 or 3 times more expensive, it is no surprise that UC student pop. is high. Unfortunately diversity scores is not predictive of quality of student post graduation. If admission requirements are lowered it may be the beginning of the decline in the prestige of a UC degree. The grads will be relegated to “public school” students who were admitted for their “diverse” ethnicity rather than their superior intelligence and goals. Sad to see.......IMHO....A UC degree used to be very well respected.

Half the students at Berkeley are Asian. Is that diversity? Maybe, maybe not. It depends on what one means by diversity. Maybe it’s best not to use the word at all.
