Smart people aren’t always wise. Israel has, arguably, the smartest electorate in the world. It won’t execute Palestinian terrorists convicted of murder, treated Sinwar’s tumor, set him free. Gun control is suffocating there, to the extent maybe 1% of the population has his own private firearm, and gun owners are limited to 50 rounds. Large numbers of Israel’s best and brightest thought it a good idea to live right next to a territory that routinely lobbed thousands of rockets into Israel annually. That doesn’t mean they were any less smart.
