Former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino made a stunning revelation about security failures which led to former president Donald Trump coming within inches of being assassinated.
During an appearance on Donald Trump Jr.’s podcast “Triggered,” Bongino revealed that the rooftop from which the failed Trump assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks fired shots, was supposed to be covered by law enforcement personnel.
Bongino revealed he was told this by an “unimpeachable source” who was knowledgeable about the situation.
“That post, according to my source, that roof was supposed to be a police post. It was supposed to be someone there,” he said.
“They’re now making up excuses, saying the pitch of the roof… my source says to me, no one knows why the post didn’t show up,” Bongino revealed.
He added that Secret Service Director Kim Cheatle has been instructed by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to “keep her mouth shut if she wants to remain in her post.
Cheatle has refused to resign from her post following the aftermath of the assassination attempt.
The Secret Service identified a high-profile security vulnerability in the building but failed to protect the rooftop.
Moreover, security forces did not take notice of Crooks roughly 30 minutes before the shooting.
One law enforcement asset even managed to snap a photo of the suspect, though he was not confronted.
Cheatle attempted to explain why the rooftop wasn’t covered.
“That building in particular has a sloped roof at its highest point. And so, you know, there’s a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn’t want to put somebody up on a sloped roof,” the Secret Service director said in a statement to ABC News.
“And so, you know, the decision was made to secure the building, from inside.”
“They’re not putting that out there. But if you get those site post logs and those police instructions and it was a post on there and they didn’t show up and no one checked, someone could have got your dad killed,” Bongino said. “Within millimeters.”

Bongino said he would be revealing more details on his podcast.
“You’re telling me the best technology you have was deployed and you missed a shooter 130 yards? Say it was 200 yards,” Bongino told Fox News.
The Secret Service CS team, Pete, the counter-sniper team? And I’m not sure those two guys are Secret Service. We have to remember that we don’t always, when we go to New York sometimes with high-level protectees we’ll use NYPD ESU counter-sniper. So I’m not really sure.”
“Either way, they’d still be briefed in. The question we have to ask is, if that’s the best technology we have, and we had a CS team up there with a shooter that, you know, we’re trained out to a thousand yards in the Secret Service with the counter-sniper team. How did they miss someone at most, you know, one-fifth of the way there? It doesn’t make any sense.”
Bongino continues to dance around the obvious, that this was a setup. He keeps speaking about the incompetence and security failures, but won’t call it out for what it is. I guess his institutional history with the Secret Service is defaulting to the fact that he still feels that the Sec Service is competent, but screwed up in this case, rather than admit the alternative.
This effectively stops one of Trump’s most useful campaign tools - rallies hmmm
He can have indoor rallies and he can also hire his own security and tell the SS to go pound sand...............
I posted the same question yesterday, and am of the same opinion that it is probably another DEI hire like the SS director. Why don’t we know who was the onsite person in charge?
IF Cheatle was in on the making the call that that roof was too steep to station security, she was in on it. The whole shitshow answers SS has been giving : That area was assigned to local LE, The roof was too steep, 30 minutes is really not that much time.
To call it a ‘Setup’, as some have done, is tantamount to calling it ‘Attempted murder’ which is legally actionable as slander, defamation, etc..............
Why wouldn’t they just put a different cop on the roof if the guy didn’t show? It was the most unsecured and biggest threat on the perimeter. There’s no excuse to leave it open.
Has anyone made a diagram of all the bleachers and stage where Trump stood at the time of the assassination attemp, including all those killed and wounded. The first shot hit Trump, at least I think so. The fatal shot hit a guy on the bleachers just to the left of the sign Trump was looking at, about 2/3 up the stands. To my knowledge the other two people hit were not on any videos I’ve seen. Anyone know if there is a record of other shots?
Looks like Mayorkas wants to throw the blame on the local police. Like everyone else in the Biden Administration, Cheatle and Mayorkas are incompetent and unsuited for their jobs.
If it’s not a mistake and it’s not an accident then what is it? Riiight!
Furthermore, if no matter who didn’t show up, the onsite person in charge should have made sure that f-ing roof was covered. That onsite person in charge should be busted for dereliction of duty.
They should be, but I don’t know if it’s a requirement...............
Bongino doesn’t like to be first. He likes to be right. Many things point to a setup but all the details are not there to prove it.
No it doesn’t. I don’t think Trump will give them that win.
Obviously security will be much tighter at the next one.
Says all you need to know right there.
All makes sense... INSIDE JOB
> Right so the lone gunmen just got lucky and went to the spot without a police sniper on top? <
A simple, yet very important, question. The Secret Service director will just say, “That was quite a coincidence, wasn’t it?”
A bulldog press would rip that statement apart, and demand to see the officer assignment records for that day. And see them pretty damn quick. So would a bulldog House committee.
It is incredibly frustrating that neither will happen.
“Bongino continues to dance around the obvious, that this was a setup”
Yup—I am noticing that.
I am also noticing that he is not talking about communications or the lack of communications or sabotaged communications or jammed communications.
That is the Rosetta Stone—because there was plenty of time to get President Trump off the stage....
Dan’s loyalty has blinded him a bit. This was not failure, this was a plan.
It sure sounds like it
Kim Cheatle has been instructed by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to “keep her mouth shut if she wants to remain in her post.
Democrat democracy in action again
The proof is in the communications or lack of communications or sabotaged or jammed communications.
That is where he should be focusing his attention.
