As someone who married an Italian and grew up around Italians, I’m going to take my best educated guess;

Com-par-a-TOR-ray

Americanized version of Comparatore, meaning standard setter.

Americanized pronunciation may be:

COM-per-a-TOR-ee

It’s interesting how pronunciations will change based on location.

When my family came to the US, the “u” in my last name changed from an “oo” to an “uh’ sound.

When my friend’s family came over, they cut three whole syllables off the family name!
