In the frantic moments after a would-be assassin fired shots at Donald Trump, news organizations reported cautiously about what had occurred. As with many breaking stories, it wasn’t immediately clear what was unfolding.
But being right rather than first with the news wasn’t good enough for many readers. With the benefit of ample hindsight, some critics on social media trashed the early, uncertain reports as inadequate or worse.......
There was notably little criticism of the print editions of leading newspapers on Sunday. The main headlines of these editions accurately framed the story in just a few words. The Washington Post’s headline was: “Trump injured in rally shooting.” The New York Times said, “Trump hurt, but safe, after a shooting.” The Boston Globe reported, “Trump survives shots at rally,” and the Los Angeles Times offered, “Trump is rushed off stage in rally shooting.” The New York Post had the starkest and simplest headline of all: “Trump Shot.”
USA Today, for example, published its first story just 19 minutes after shots rang out with an initial headline of: “Trump removed from stage by Secret Service after loud noises startles former president, crowd.” In a social media post minutes later, it said “popping noises rattled the crowd in Pennsylvania.”......
The Washington Post’s initial headline said, “Trump escorted away after loud noises at Pa. rally.” CNN’s first take was headlined, “Secret Service rushes Trump off stage after he falls at rally.”......
Conservative pundits joined the chorus. “On a daily basis, MSNBC tells its audience that Trump is a threat to democracy, an authoritarian in waiting, and a would-be dictator if no one stops him,” posted commentator Erick Erickson on X. “What did they think would happen?”

No they didn't. Writing that he fell and ignoring the gunshots and blood isn't cautious. It's a deliberate attempt to choose words that make Trump out to be a klutz rather than an assassination target. And it was stunningly uncautious in that it was bound to blow up in their face as the whole world would obviously know the truth within minutes.

They sure were cautious - they were saying it was a ‘popping sound’ while the side of Trump’s face was covered in blood. Now they say it was an ALLEGED assassination attempt. Are they now going to wait until Crook’s body is charged with Attempted Murder, or what, before accepting what happened?
Seem awful reluctant ro use the “A” word, don’t they?
It was an attempted ASSASSINATION.
The news media lost credibility and respect due to their eagerness to vilify Trump and his supporters and thereby encourage assassination.
My father and I were watching the rally on the TV live.
I immediately knew Trump was shot.
The MSM are lying.

Former US President Donald Trump stumbled at a rally in Pennsylvania following loud bangs, according to CNN.
Secret Service agents escorted former President Donald Trump off stage after he fell to the ground at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Before his fall, there was a loud noise. Agents helped him to his feet, and there was blood on his face.

Biden’s is that of a would-be Usurper.

When everyone watching the video can see and hear that shots were fired, Trump grabbed the side of his head and got down, then got up with blood on his face it’s pretty stupid to be “cautious” about stating those facts.
I used to tell the old joke that if a member of the press saw Trump walk on water the next days headline would read “Trump Can’t Swim”.
Now they have surpassed even that cheesy joke in their headlong plunge into incompetence.

Everyone saw blood. Bloodied bodies.
This same media never corrects their lies about Trump but decides to wait for fact checkers on something everyone knew and could see.
