That he chose Valerie Jarrett, who is connected to a long line of Communists, as his closest advisor (Her father, James E. Bowman, was involved with Communist front groups and was in contact with Alfred Stern, a paid Soviet who was wanted for espionage. Her maternal grandfather was investigated by the FBI for his membership in Communist groups and his business relationship with Alfred Stern. Her father-in-law was Vernon Jarrett, another known communist active in Chicago politics.).
