The RNC is launching a massive effort to monitor voting. Critics say it threatens to undermine trust (concern troll alert)

The Republican National Committee on Friday launched a swing state initiative to mobilize thousands of polling place monitors, poll workers and attorneys to serve as “election integrity” watchdogs in November — an effort that immediately drew concerns that it could lead to harassment of election workers and undermine trust in the vote.

The RNC says its plan will help voters have faith in the electoral process and ensure their votes matter. Yet, as former President Donald Trump and his allies continue to spread false claims that the 2020 election was marred by widespread fraud, the effort also sets the stage for a repeat of Trump's efforts to undermine the results — a gambit that ultimately led to the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

The RNC has said its new effort will focus on stopping “Democrat attempts to circumvent the rules." The party will deploy monitors to observe every step of the election process, create hotlines for poll watchers to report perceived problems and escalate those issues by taking legal action.

Both parties have a long history of organizing supporters to serve as poll monitors, and the Democratic National Committee said it plans its own volunteer recruitment effort. …Yet the language surrounding the RNC’s effort and how it’s being implemented could present broader concerns should it evolve beyond normal political party organizing…

The launch of the RNC initiative comes as the GOP faces a significant disadvantage compared to Democrats in traditional political infrastructure on the ground in key states, such as campaign offices, community centers and canvassers. Biden’s campaign and his allies on the Democratic National Committee have opened hundreds of campaign offices nationwide, while Republican officials in many cases are still waiting for the Trump campaign and the RNC to engage.

If the Republicans actually win, we’ll quickly learn those dirty Russians and Chinese hacked us.

They should have started doing that after the 2000 election debacle, but Republicans acted as if nothing untoward had happened in that election. The freaking country didn’t know for a month who the next President was going to be, and we sat waiting for the Supreme Court to let us know. Why didn’t any Republican in Congress back then say: “Never again.”

Maybe they’re getting really scared.
They will have to be removed if they don’t do something.
Like wanting to win!

I am convinced by the phrase “...attack on the government...” leads me to the conclusion that the “journalists” who wrote this piece have no integrity and are completely biased nitwits.

Since Lara Trump is co-chair of the RNC now, I certainly would hope they are doing this.

I truly wish Republicans would take this seriously. I was a Trump and Republican poll watcher in 2020. I observed clear issues, dutifully reported them, and was ignored. I followed-up and found no one cared or were interested. I’ll probably either get aboard as a precinct worker (did it for about 10 years a long time ago, was even a precinct chief) or again be a poll watcher but it won’t make a difference if the party organization is not serious about it all.

“Since Lara Trump is co-chair of the RNC now, I certainly would hope they are doing this.”

This why I have donated money to the RNC. It has been a long, long time since I have done so.

...... Okay ...... So this is what they said they were going to do for the previous election ..... So does this time mean they actually mean it????

...... Unfortunately I would have been a bit more impressed and confident if they were a lot more proactive and forced the securing and tightening of the voting rules and stressed the cleaning up of the old, ever tattered voting lists of the walking dead.

...... Just Sayin'.

The answer to this sort of outrageous lie by the media is simply to quote the President, who said he had the greatest voter fraud organization in history. He started off by destroying confidence in the validity of the vote count in a massive way.

"Maybe they’re getting really scared."

My opinion is, it's too little, too late. January 6th proved to me that the majority of Repukes in Congress could give two craps about protecting my legal vote from fraudulent ballots. After 40+ years as a registered Republican, I changed my party affiliation to "no party." I'll never register as a Republican ever again, because the GOP doesn't deserve my membership. I'll vote for Trump a third time in November, but once Trump is gone from politics, I'm done. There will never be another Trump to vote for in what time I have left on this earth, and I will never hold my nose again and vote for a Republican I know won't be good for the country.

Yeah, well they better start thinking about monitoring the counting... That’s where they stole it last time.

The RNC should investigate why illegals are getting voting registration forms. The RATS will never stop.

The issues older people face must be addressed.

The Republicans in Congress should try to send to the states a constitutional amendment that would cap middle class property taxation, such as:

Property tax on any residential property of less than 2799 square feet of finished space shall be no higher the 2019 dollar amount on the property, or for a newer or since resold property what a similar property in the same area would have been taxed at for 2019 if it lacked owner specific tax breaks, increased by 3% per calendar year since 2019 and by any percentage increase to its finished living space.

Fighting for such a property tax cap now in Congress would add the electors of several deep blue states to Trump’s total and make Congress turn deep red come November.

Even devoted Democratic voters do not want to get taxed out of their homes.

We also need to cap the ability of Democrats to buy votes by a middle-class income tax cap in the federal constitution.

Fighting for such a middle-class income tax cap now in Congress would add the electors of several deep blue states to Trump’s total and make Congress turn deep red come November.

[perhaps]
Federal income taxation shall be capped as follows, on personal income:
below the average yearly apartment rent in the District of Columbia, 10%,
below the median federal full-time civilian employee compensation amount, 22%,
below the average employee compensation of the 100,000 best paid federal full-time civilian employees, 30%,
below the average employee compensation of the 10,000 best paid federal full-time civilian employees, 40%.

[Note: All percentages include employee FICA. They do not fully include self-employment tax, so people that pay SE tax might choose to voluntarily invest in the SS system or otherwise arrange for their own retirement funding.]

[Anything that the IRS would as of January 1, 2024 legally be able to collect income tax on if provided to any person would be considered compensation.]
