They were found out, and fought bitterly by hundreds of Hamas fighters. All but one of the IDF soldiers got out unharmed and all of the hostages got out unharmed. How that was accomplished under such intense fire is a complete mystery to me, but I have no personal experience with this (military) corner of the world. I’d be grateful for thoughts from the many people on this board who have had such experience.
The head choppers rely on Allah to guide their bullets. For real. Also the ill discipline and incompetence of head chopper military formations are legendary. Sometimes they are effective but usually it’s a mess of incompetence with head chopper units shooting at each other as well as their foes.
I cannot begin to imagine the incredible confusion of that battle. I like how the Israeli Air Force flattened the two homes as soon as the hostages and troops were evacuated.
