I love buying books anyway but right now I’m buying more than I can possibly read, Better World Books has some great prices and even better coupons. I figure I need all these books if we have an EMP.

So it’s part of prepping, right?

Pulling this from old thread so I can comment. :)

I bought books all my life, never went anywhere without a book under my arm. 3 bookshelves in the house full of books, till about 5 years ago when I started getting rid of lots of things in the house, books included. (mostly gave lots of books to the senior center in my town).

I still have lots of my most fave books, but when I bought my first smart phone, I started playing games on it, in place of reading. I also play games on computer. So I just got outta the habit of reading books. but yes, when SHTF and we are back to stone age, I could start reading again to take up time, if my vision holds out. lol

I love real books

I love real maps

I also appreciate the technology that permits us to find both electronically.

I’m kinda a cooking nut and have a lot of fun with recipe groups and following various cooks/chef - ree( pioneer Woman) and Tipsy Housewife are two of my favorites

But I positively love cookbooks and Mapbooks. I miss going to big book stores and small creative book stores. I miss a computer for a lot of reasons but a biggie was because I daily would travel the world via Google earth

Enjoy tremendously my time at library . Hopefully if things settle down on homefront n family I’ll get there more often

I wish I had an old set of encyclopedias before history was rewritten

“if my vision holds out”

That’s my concern too. High myopia comes with high risks at later ages.

I’m reading books from the library app mainly, plus free Kindle books. Saving my paper copies for later. But with the electronic books, I could increase the font or brightness when I need to, so that’ll be handy.

Well, I’m done buying used books - the bookshelves are full, even the new one I bought for the overflow, LOL
