Why I no longer live in my home state.
when does this wind up in the Supreme court anyway?
Can't read the rest of this 'news', it's behind a paywall. Can you add to the excerpt by way of comment?
“help former President Donald Trump win”
You mean be like the other 49 states? Or help Xiden lose by more electoral votes to a non-commie?
“Compelled”?! “Will” is the word
Maine has RCV for a reason...
I live in Maine. IF this really becomes our ‘law’, in a close election, like 2020, would we have standing to take other states to court making sure all their counted votes were legal citizens who voted only once?
Could we force the discounting of votes without chain of custody? Ballots cast by mules depositing in drop boxes which do not have working cameras? Unique names? Dead voters? Ffalse addresses? Algorithms (spiral, metronome, shingle, tartan)? Could we call into question signatures that do not match?
Because the popular vote determines the vote of our electors would we be able to demand an audit (not a recount) of each state?
I would love for this policy to open Pandora’s jar for the authentication of legal votes.
So what. Each state decides how to allocate its electoral votes. Nebraska can go to winner takes all. So can Maine.
What the Dems in Maine are trying to do is to discourage Nebraska from making the change. Will it work?
This shows how fragile the “National Popular Vote” compact would be. A state could easily back out of the deal. Even after the election, under suspicions of vote fraud, a state legislature could decide to award its electoral votes to the other candidate.
So stupid of Maine (and other states) to give their votes to California.
