Wisconsin Republican to leave Congress next month, shrinking narrow GOP majority

Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-Wis.) announced Friday he would resign from Congress before his term is up, shrinking the GOP’s already razor-thin majority in the House.

Gallagher, a four-term lawmaker who is considered a rising star within the GOP, announced last month that he would not seek reelection. But Friday, he said he would leave the House on April 19.

“I’ve worked closely with House Republican leadership on this timeline and look forward to seeing Speaker Johnson appoint a new chair to carry out the important mission of the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party,” he said in a statement.

Gallagher’s departure will leave House Republicans with 217 members to Democrats’ 213, meaning Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) can afford to lose only one vote on any bill that doesn’t have Democratic support...

“I think that the fact that we have so many lifers and careerists in this institution is why it’s so dysfunctional, and that the framers, when they created the Constitution and this country, had in mind that you would embark on a season of service and then return to private life,” he said.

But Friday, he said he would leave the House on April 19.

Clearly Gallagher made a deal with democrats. If he “left the house” 10 days earlier a special election would have to be called. Since his seat is solid republican, it would just be filled by another republican.

As is, it will remain open until November giving the Democrats time to run more scams on buying off greedy, unpatriotic RINOS in the house.

The uniparty RINOs are openly coordinating with Democrats.

This is the deep state circumventing an election. If the deep state can blackmail enough Republicans into early retirement they through their fascist allies the Democrats can take control of the House between now and November and refund all their wars and set the stage for the elections in November.

I said this would happen back in February 2023:

I'm not defending the guy, but let's not forget that the Democrats are seeing Republicans with a 4-seat majority and one member still out recovering from injuries sustained after falling off of his roof.

If they can take out Santos, that leaves them with a two-vote swing, and we have plenty of swing voters on our side who may be tempted to buck the party from time to time.

Besides, if they can take out Santos, they will likely ramp up their machine to target others until they can retake the majority.

It's just how the Democrats roll, and we will have to suck it up and tolerate our own bad seeds when things are this close and Democrats are ruthless at playing small ball.

I despise the GOP, do they really believe this will bring the conservative MAGA voters back to the party. Screw the GOP. As it is I am only voting for State Candidates and POTUS, but only if Trump is on the ballot. No Trump, I am shorting my ballot and voting for Mark Robinson and no other candidate. GOP POS like Gallagher would rather destroy our country than let MAGA voters win again.
