Mary Poppins, the classic film starring Julie Andrews, has had its age rating raised by British film censors because it features "discriminatory language".
The 1964 film has been reclassified from a U, which stands for universal, to a PG, for parental guidance.
In it, a derogatory term originally used by white Europeans about nomadic peoples in southern Africa is used to refer to soot-faced chimney-sweeps.
That now "exceeds our guidelines" for U films, the BBFC said.
The film is set in London in 1910 and follows a magical nanny, played by Dame Julie, who looks after a family's children with the help of Bert, a busking chimney-sweep played by Dick Van Dyke.

A hottetot is what a BBC employee calls an underage child.
Courage! What makes the Hottentot so hot? What puts the “ape” in apricot?
What have they got that I ain’t got?
All Four
Courage!
Lion
Then you can say that again!
...and that is why I acquired a copy of “Song of the South.”
is it them yogi?, yes boo- boo, its the hottentots! đ
OMG! HORRIBLE! Why, next some DJ somewhere will say “booger” on the air!
“Nobody move or the hottentot gets it” - blazing saddles?
Iâve been doing that for several years, and not just movies, but books also. They got rid of âSong of the Southâ long ago, and that was, in my memory, a sweet movie.
We just watched âDriving Miss Daisyâ a few days ago, and Iâm pretty certain itâs been cancelled or will be soon.
I also bought an old copy of âGone With The Windâ (the book). Prices for the dvd skyrocketed when they were canceling it a few years ago, and I couldnât afford that kind of money. I havenât checked to see if they came back down to something more reasonable.
The handwriting is on the wall.
George Wallace ridiculed foreign aid as "sending money to Hottentots in Yugoslavia."
World geography evidently was not his strong suit.
Retardation is taking over the world.
He seemed to have a pretty good view of where the so-called "civil" "rights" "movement" was headed ...
It's just another op like Cloward-Piven, like wokism, like The Big Lie repeated on the news every day, like open borders.
Stop them all after detecting them all.
Flip some CIA agents to our side and have them pull all their sh*tty little tricks on them.
Just pay them a little more. They are soulless; they will flip. Sh*tty tricks is what they do. Employ them.
The Cowardly Lion in the 1939 film, The Wizard of Oz, in his monologue, asks, “What makes the Hottentots so hot?”
Hottentots is simply the name Dutch settlers gave to the aboriginal inhabitants of what’s now South Africa. Picture the Xhosa fellow searching for where the coca cola bottle originated in “The Gods Must be Crazy”. Not sure what the Bantu invaders (Zulus, et al) from the north called them besides prey.
“Carn sarn no good bush whackin’ cracker croakers!’’
Gabby Johnson is right!
Thatâs right.
Exactly, is the British board of film classification (BBFC) going to raise the age certification on âThe Wizard Of Ozâ too?! Where does this madness end?!
LOL
I think they need a visit and a few lessons from Mary Poppins.
Ugh this is just ridiculous. As if anyone knows what Hottentots is.
Mine was Old Yeller. “Daddy, who did Travis just shoot?”
