On Monday, Maryland Governor Wes Moore announced more funding to advance abortion in the state.
Totaling $15.6 million, the funding includes a $10.6 million grant for Maryland’s Abortion Care Clinical Training Program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and an additional $5 million budget proposal to increase Medicaid provider reimbursement for abortion. The Medicaid budget proposal will first need to be approved by both the House and Senate.
According to Maryland Matters, the abortion training funding will be released by the Maryland Department of Health, which says it will be used to “initially conduct a statewide needs assessment to understand the inequities in access to abortion care in Maryland, develop and coordinate a robust statewide training system in collaboration with partners, operate the hospital-based clinical site, and distribute program funds to participating organizations.”
Jessica Lee, an associate professor of medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, said that the money will allow the school to train abortionists so that abortion will be more readily available in rural areas.
“Access to reproductive health care is a fundamental right,” said Moore in a statement. “Today, we take another big step forward to protect the health, well-being, and rights of Marylanders – and we will keep working together to ensure that Maryland remains a safe haven for reproductive care.”
Despite this statement, there is no ‘fundamental right’ to the direct and intentional homicide of a preborn child, as that child is either deprived of the nutrients it needs to survive, pulled apart limb by limb, or poisoned in its mother’s womb. There is no right for any person to kill another innocent human in the name of “freedom.” Killing is not reproductive health care.
In his time in office, Moore has established himself as a big proponent of abortion. On his very first day of office in 2023, he released funds under the Abortion Care Access Act which covers abortion training, among other things. The funds had been withheld under the leadership of former Governor Larry Hogan. He has also signed several bills that expand and protect abortion in the state, and he has taken steps to promote a ballot measure that would enshrine the “right” to abortion in the state’s constitution.
Governor Step’n Fetchit doesn’t care. He does what his masters tell him.
I live in Maryland and honestly couldn’t pick him out of a lineup. He’s pretty invisible except for his press releases.
Women are really stupid to have fallen for the hook-up concept. Sex without commitment, romance or any intention of financial responsibility should a pregnancy occur is not how the female psyche is wired.
