Exactly so!

But sadly, today, few people actually know or even speak English well. English is such a "diverse" and fulsome ( its original meaning; NOT the pejorative, latter meaning ) language, which needs to be taught again!

I just wish they would teach the difference between loser and looser. Drives me nuts.

You are right. The English language has been very much "dumbed down" in recent decades.
