Upper body strength matters in modern fly-by-wire fighters? Uh huh. And Gs don’t matter in a dogfight? Guess we wasted millions on actual centrifuges for training and G suits.
We will just have to agree to disagree.
We can agree to disagree, but my opinion is based on experience in fighters. Upper body strength DOES matter. One doesn’t just sit and play video games. That is why Gs DO matter, but not in the way a centrifuge tests.
G-suits matter and I spent a lot of time wearing them, but again, it isn’t “Gs” so much as actively flying and fighting while pulling Gs. Been in a centrifuge too. Not the same.
Aggressive spirit is more common in men than in women. Isn’t a factor in pilot training but it is when shooting starts. I’m not saying NO WOMEN have it, but in recruiting and training you are playing the odds.
And...when you sink $20 million into a fighter pilot, you ought to want to KEEP that pilot. Much harder to keep women pilots, judging from what I saw while in the Air Force. Don’t have raw numbers to back that up but I’ll give a hint: Martha McSally was a decent congresswoman but a fraud as a fighter pilot.
